BrendAn Posted June 14 Posted June 14 heard a radio report before about a plane going through a fence and ending up on its roof at baccus marsh this morning. pilot treated at the scene. Brendan doesn't have a shift key on his device. 1
red750 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 The plane was a Jabiru 120. The pilot sustained a broken elbow. 2
BrendAn Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 looked like one wing broke off, now it will be jabiruted 3
JabiruWeekendWarrior Posted June 14 Posted June 14 No much online about this. Maybe doesn’t rate as news these days. 1 1
red750 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 The only report is behind a newspaper paywall. Covered on both 7 and 9 news. 1
turboplanner Posted June 14 Posted June 14 It was upside down; this is quite common; come in for a landing with the nose too high, and the upwind wing too high and the aircraft will try to run off the runeway, lift off a rear wheel and run along headed off the runway on the nosewheel and downwind rear. A bit more wind and it will tip over and finish up on its back. This could have been the full tip. 1 1

Just a guess , would love to know the whole story. Edited June 14 by BrendAn 2
onetrack Posted June 14 Posted June 14 The fence appears to be relatively undamaged. Photos courtesy of CH 7 News.
tillmanr Posted June 15 Posted June 15 It appears to be airside of the fence. Maybe tried to steer it/ground loop to avoid the fence. 1
facthunter Posted June 15 Posted June 15 We don't really know what happened, but with Jabiru's, keeping weight OFF the nosewheel is very important. Nev 1

rgmwa Posted June 15 Posted June 15 That strong cabin structure is one of the best features of Jabs. 1 2
440032 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 My source tells me his source, who was on the scene, said there were 4 police cars, 4 or 5 CFA trucks, and numerous SES vehicles. The story is that the pilot was not happy with his approach and tried a go around. Glad they got out okay, that's really all that matters. The fence is believed to be making a full recovery with no ongoing concerns. (Just thought I'd repost that here.) 2 1
