I need some 3/32 x 1/8 aluminium rivets. I'm only short a few.

They are a soft aluminium rivet from memory 

In the manual it reads as I have written the dimensions.

Have you tried the aircraft hardware suppliers listed above?

 

Failing finding any - why not drill out to a larger diameter, that is available (in Au)  in the short grip length?😈

Yes it's an option. It holds an aluminium strip to a wooden rib. Thus gentle aluminium rivet  I'm guessing.

No expert but how does such a short rivet:

• hold an aluminium strip to wood?
• without splitting the wood?

The few times I have riveted to wood, I put an appropriate sized washer on the wood side, to aid in clamping & minimise the chance of splitting the wood.😈

I've not followed this thread but I've popped many thousands of rivets.

 

Rivets are very easy to buy from any amount of hardware and fastener suppliers however all rivets are not equal. Apart from a variety of metal rivets available they vary in design as well. The ones shown in the photos above are not waterproof. We used to use these 40 years ago and then follow up with a card of tiny plastic plugs, one driven into every rivet hole where the broken mandril pulls out. These times we can buy sealed rivets.

 

 

These are just a few I grabbed from the shed. Any of the ones showing the mandril ball on the end are much easier to insert into the drill hole but will surely leak even after painting. The square ended ones are fully sealed and are unlikely to leak after the job has been painted. They are a much better option on areas where you want to exclude moisture.

 

All are readily available at fastener suppliers, even Bunnings will have a fair range and they are quite inexpensive. Just take care of the material you chose. Some will have a mandril that will rust.

I don't have problem with your rivet display Moenybox BUT they are not aviation grade eg

 

Probably little functional difference. Much will depend on where used😈

Don't use rivets from Bunnings on an aircraft. They need to be aviation grade (eg Avex).

Because apart from consistent quality they are designed to capture the head of the mandrel to ensure full shear capacity.

Just because an item (pop rivet) is not branded aircraft/certified/ or some such term, does not mean it can not be used with care & consideration in an aircraft build.

 

Personally I would not use a general purpose pop rivet in any structural/stressed part of an aircarft - I would be happy to use such in many other non critical areas eg a bracket for a 12V outlet.😈

Yes there are areas that are non critical where it wouldn’t matter, but why mix and match rivets. They are not exactly expensive and it’s just not good practice. However your plane, your choice.
