What is ACF-50?

ACF-50, Anti-Corrosion Formula, is a state of the art, anti-corrosion/lubricant compound, that has been specifically designed for the Aerospace Industry.

ACF-50 can be described as an ultra thin fluid film compound which must be applied on an annual basis. ACF-50 actively penetrates through the corrosion deposits to the base of the cell where it emulsifies and encapsulates the electrolyte, lifting it away from the metal surface.

ACF-50 then dispels this moisture and provides an atmospheric barrier which prevents any further moisture contact, thereby keeping the cell inactive. This compound continues to actively penetrate and "creep" into the tightest of seams, lap joints, micro cracks and around rivet heads, dissipating the moisture, even salt water, in these corrosion prone areas.

These unique abilities of ACF-50 remain effective for 12 months, gradually disappearing as it is chemically consumed.

APPLICATIONS

1. SINGLE ENGINE & LIGHT TWINS
Spray into: wing sections, fuselage, vertical & horizontal stabilizers, hinges, teleflex cables, air vent cables, trim cables, throttle cables, battery boxes, engine compartments, avionics, antenna mounts.

2. ROTORWING AIRCRAFT

Spray into: wing sections, fuselage, vertical & horizontal stabilizers, landing gear compartments, micro switches, avionics, cannon plugs, cargo door brackets, garbage chutes, galleys, lavatory areas, belly skin sections, main spar sections.

4. FLOAT EQUIPPED & AMPHIBIOUS
Spray into: floats, fuselage, vertical & horizontal stabilizers, wing sections, bilge area, exterior of motors, connectors, cannon plugs, avionics, micro switches, antenna mounts.

5. TURBO PROPS/BUSINESS JETS
Spray into: trim drum actuators, micro switches, landing gear and compartments, wheel hubs, thrust reverse mechanisms. Wipe on nacelles.

6. OTHER APPLICATIONS
Interior metal surfaces, structural assemblies, micro switches, avionic components, solenoids/motors, battery terminals, rotor head/blades, antenna mounts, strap packs/gear boxes, thrust reversers, wheel hubs, rheostat/circuit panels, trim drum.

I used to sell Bitron by network marketing, that's where I met Mrs M. It was a great product with similar properties to ACF-50 but it's no longer readily available so I ended up with a litre bottle of ACF-50 and a pump bottle along with it.

 

Now ACF-50 is my go-to product for all those little jobs that require a penetrating lubricant and a light lube job. It's proving to be a great product with a wide range of applications in the workshop and everywhere else. Now I just have to find where I left the pump bottle since I used it last 🙃

Yes; use the pump bottle, soaked rag and also a small paint bush for bolt heads, nuts and tight places.

Interesting that the person applying, what looks to be an aerosol mist of ACF-50, into the aircraft wing, is not wearing PPE.

 

A future damaged health claim against this employer and the maker/supplier of ACF-50 perhaps?😈

With reference to:

It pays to wash your plane occasionally!

 "do not let some lubricants get between two surfaces like sheets of aluminium / skins and ribs etc because the reduction in friction may cause the two surfaces to start moving slightly and wear.."

 

Given the aforementioned enthusiastic testimonials to the lubricating efficacy of AC-50. What comments would you make??😈

Sound like a BS statement.

 

Cant speak for free water but emulsions & suspensions in water (the water is the carrier/transporter) have been around for ever and in general have a good reputation, where appropriately used.

Silicon is a known and usually durable water/moisture replant.

Teflon ??

Wax - A number of corrosion inhibiting wax products are available. For the most part they are excellent long lasting corrosion inhibitors. They do this by excluding water and air (O2). Dry to a soft finish are "self healing" ie scratch it and it will "flow" back to cover the scratch. I have used Tectyl 506 for about 30 years (not yet in an aircraft) - Exposed to weather will last  may be 2-3 years,  in cavities at least 20++ years. 😈

It would seem the AC-50 believers l are unwilling to critically examine the validity of their faith.

 

Of course that is what faith is all about, the suspension of critical examination.

Note: I have nothing for/against AC-50 or for that matter WD40, another supernormal product (or so the marketing department would have us believe).😈

Warning on use ! do not allow it to wick in and reduce the friction between mated fastened surfaces... like between a rib and a wing skin with rivet

WD-40 is great for keeping rubber items soft and supple. The manufacturers recommend using it on weatherstrips to stop them from going hard.

Probably a temporary effect, due to hydrocarbon damaging the surface of the "rubber".

 

If you want to extend the life of "rubber" like materials use a good quality silicon.

 

Note: There are a lot of poor quality silicon sprays on the market.😈

Rubber also Hardens with Aging.. I'm not sure you can do much about that. It makes old Tires difficult to  "work With" and they can Crack where they flex.. Nev
