  1. Hi, help me out here. Where is this documented? I fly an RV6A and haven't noticed this when landing, or heard of it before. Happy to admit my ignorance but would like to learn more.
  2. When I first needed reading glasses I used graduated glasses that were clear at the top so I could just leave them on whilst flying. The transition lens worked well for me and I didn't need sunglasses. Gradually I needed long sighted correction as well. Still find the graduated transition glasses work well. You need to carry a spare anyway so these can be a different tint. These days I use multi focal contact lens and wear sunnies. Works for me. Peripheral vision is fine. I always carry backup glasses though.
  3. Yep, and do you see this as a problem? Particularly given the proximity to Moorabbin Airport and many students flying in that area. Just wondering.
  4. This one may be of interest. About 30 minutes from Townsville CBD. Facilities - Bluewater MFS
  5. I love to fly my RV, but my home http://www.facebook.com/justsublime has frontage to the Nicholson River and is near the Gippsland Lakes. Lots of water :)
  6. Welcome Aboard - The sunshade was the first thing I bought after I bought my RV-6A and flew it back to Moorabbin from Jandakot. Methinks I would have turned into a boiled lobster otherwise.
  7. Wow! and welcome aboard! Now this is an aircraft that would work at my place!
  8. Welcome aboard!
  9. Moorabbin's ERSA entry has the following, so I guess they want you to climb. Suggestion above re grabbing a copy of the VFRG is a good one. DEPARTURES 4.4. VFR ACFT departing into Class G airspace must depart the CTR on an extended leg of the circuit. 4.5. Departure altitude - climb to 2,000FT AMSL or higher, cloud permitting.
  10. Interesting that even if it is notammed they have to reopen the runway within 15 minutes. If they were in the middle of grading the runway might have been a tad bumpy? First pass over my farm's dirt runway usually leaves it horrible. It's only when it's finished that it's smooth. And if they were resurfacing or carrying out other works it might have been seriously not possible to have the runway usable in a rush. Just wondering.
  11. Welcome aboard!!
  12. Hope the families involved in the midair aren't reading this thread. But I learnt in metric at school in the 70's.
  13. Thanks Bevan. Any plans to expand this?
  14. Without any add ons does AvPlan show only other AvPlan traffic? Or is it picking it up from somewhere else?
  15. My thoughts go out to the family and friends. VALE – JOHN MOONEY | Tooradin Flying School
  16. And happy to get tail dragger endorsement if you're offering the chance to fly one! <smiling>
  17. Thanks! My first solo was only a decade ago and I'm pretty happy with the training wheel.
  18. Nope. I've got a training wheel.
  19. Hmm don't think a bed will fit in mine? Maybe that's why it goes faster?
  20. Hi and welcome! Retired from? Think we may have met in a past life?
  21. There was provision for women to vacate? Seriously if it was notammed pilots should be aware of it before they depart and up to them to make the decision to fly or not. Council work plans would be organised well ahead.
  22. Kind of getting tacky. Maybe the wrong place for me.
  23. Everyone except me I guess.
  24. Thanks! Hadn't seen the term before. :)
