now that looks like fun! just 1 question though, where does the fuel go?
-
The Cessnock area can get like that as well, with Maitland and Warnervale close by and on the same 126.7, its especially confusing with maitland being just 5 Nm away!
another little thing, is if you have a ICOM handheld radio, most have a switch to change the output level, if your in a congested radio area, how about using the lower output setting so your transmission doesn't carry for 100 Miles? or overpower someone at a different airfield? just a though (dont know if it actually works like that)

as they say, you have not stopped flying until the aircraft is in the hangar.. sound like he did most things right, except exceeded the aircraft rated crosswind component... is it recommended to use 1 stage of flap at max crosswind component? i usually use flap in relation to the windsock. if the windsock is drooped vertical, then full flap. if its almost horizontal, then no flap.
-
i personally prefer the wing down method, and in a good crosswind there is much satisfaction in being straight down the centreline, feeling the upwind wheel touchdown first, and the gentle roll onto the other wheel! i only ever seam to use a decent amount of rudder in a sideslip, and then its only to loose excess height without gaining speed.. though i will use rudder only to counter drift if its a slight crosswind up to about 5 kts.

its the constant challenges! i mastered the use of my VOR today! and guess what, i managed to track it directly over the station! using no other reference, (except confirm with the VTC, and i had no previous knowedge of its location)

was there a Zero there? after arriving back at Cessnock after a local flight, i was overtaken by a Zero at about 300 ft Sounded and looked Brilliant. for a moment there i could have been at pearl harbour!
edit, just looked at the attachments, yep, the Zero was there, and Miss fire... both stunning aircraft. they sounded brilliant on arrival at YCNK this afternoon

a Jabiru twin??

i got the dvd and one six left from Ian at Narromine, great film! though i cant believe what happened at Miegs field! destroyed overnight for the sake of a politicians wife! bloody disgraceful! how did they get the aircraft out after the field was unlawfully destroyed? sadly its still going on here, just no in such a dramatic manner!
-
where exactly is it? i thought Raglan was near Orange or Wellington?
-
fortunately the Americans woke up pretty quickly and realised that a small aircraft under 5700Kg in weight posed no terrorist threat...and the costs of imposing such restrictions and charges on their many pilots was simply not worth it..
shame our govt cant see that...

i think the genuine Cherrymax rivet is made by Textron.
-
is there No reason why simultaneous fly-ins cant be organized? One in Port, and one in southern Vic? and a third in Northern QLD?
-
ahhh yes, my favorite goverment organization, the office of Random Taxes Association (RTA)
-
the flap support hinges alone are bigger than the entire CT tail!
-
i have 3 ASICS now the bungling has subsided!
One from the ADF, one from RAAus! and one from Newcastle Airport limited...
dont ya love bureaucracy!
-
Camden Haven would be Perfect for a first one...... i will be at Hat Head over the long weekend, and plan on flying out of South west rocks when im there!
-
is it MOvember already?
-
what really poos me off about the ASIC issue, is when i applied, through CASA, i waited 9 months!!!! only to be told on a phone call to CASA to find out how my application was going, that CASA had LOST my paperwork!! hows that for security! all the details you could ever want to commit identity fraud!
I demanded a refund, which i never got...
but the kicker is i have held a QANTAS red background AUS ASIC for 11 yrs!!, sadly it has expired since i left, but i still hold a VALID Department of Defence ASIC and ID with clearance to secret level, all this clearance and background checking by the ADF mean absolutely Nothing to DOTARS!!
i can sit an an operational, powered up fully armed F18 Hornet while its towed across the tarmac, i can carry a AIM9 sidewinder Missile, a 500Lb Bomb etc etc, but i cant fly a 270 Kg Ultralight from a airport in the middle of nowhere because its serviced by 1 RPT flight a week...... even if that 1 RPT flight is only a C172.Sadly we are the victims of fear factor politics resulting in an entire new industry built on BS!! the airport security industry......

im not saying the airport security is bad, but absolutely nothing has changed at most airport that would actually stop a terrorist atrocity, except we are all paying for the privillage!

i applied for mine in Feb last year through CASA, still hasnt arrived

-
i had a quick look into this a while ago, but fortunatly there are a few websites around with kit aircraft using this engine.. (sadly i dont have the links anymore)
-
sad indeed... if your aircraft is lost in a hangar fire, is it covered by the hangars insurance or your own?
-
Unfortunatly once im all strapped in, looking over the side is not real easy, cant even lean forward enough to look back at the gear!Don't look over the side.either is adjusting the altimeter subscale and radio...
might actually have to move the panel and radio mount forward a few inches!

My toy shed is growing nicely, A Sadler Vampire, a Honda CBR 250RR Repsol replica, A nice Red Mazda RX7! oh, and a Kia Van.

Whatever happened to the replica BF 109 at narromine a few yrs back??

Williy airspace is very easy to navigate around, you have 2 options, the western track via Glouster to Taree, or the coastal route from Newcastle to Foster, the coastal route only requires a clearance request and location reports, all these are on the VTC. the views are spectacular from 500 ft..
If you fly on the weekends, then Williamtown becomes just another CTAF, as the restricted areas are deactivated!!! (check notams of course)
