  1. The Logic behind some of that thinking is a bit amusing but there is a Problem there that Needs to Be addressed so ANYTHING that helps is something You CAN build a Plane without Understanding Much about structures stress and deformation Shear. Tension and compressive loads Flutter and Many other things You need to Know Proper repair techniques for all manner of defects. Building it doesn't ensure any of this. You don't need Jigs for an RV. The Preformed Rivet Holes align it. Nev
  2. Yes I suppose so but the turbulence is an unknown quantity. Lots of adverse Aileron effect in a Thruster but the rudder and elevators would still work with Power on. Once in a DH 82 I got stuck airborne with very high winds at Rutherford (West Maitland) and had to wait till 2 heavy People were able to hold the Wings with the wheels in contact with the ground and then I reduced the Power. Nev
  3. I reckon you (or anyone) would prang the Thruster. I think you are underestimating the difficulties and you Might Need a bit More Power quickly than you have spare.. Nev
  4. There's enough in that video to be able to think about the Main Issues. It's STILL too risky. The risk is not contrived. That's a Seriously dangerous thing to attempt. Nev
  5. Isn't this the Place where serious discussion is Done? Nev
  6. Well, they did Make better stuff and Germany trades on its reputation for Quality.
  7. Witha Moving Platform and at a faster speed there is considerable turbulence for you to attempt a landing , generated from the Carriages and engine in front of it. As well as a core which travels with the train as a sudden drop in headwind just when you don't want it with turbulence in the windshear which always happens in those situations. I would NOT even attempt it. With a Platform on a truck and Much slower speed involved. Maybe. Cleaner Air. Nev
  8. Turbs Has never acknowledged Planes fly in the sky with No Fences and barriers and Trucks and racing Cars do not. They can be confined and regulated relatively easily. It's about the Level of Potential risk You are exposed to and Must as a responsible Body anticipate and cover. It used to Be under CASA's direct authority which I claim CASA cannot just pass on without Providing some Indemnity. Nev
  9. You don't have to Be a rocket Scientist to work out why RAAus Needs such a document signed.. It's a Matter of it's OWN survival.. Nev
  10. What type of plane is it?. Nev
  11. Helmets have to fit well. Give a size. Nev
  12. Slower and less turbulence there. Nothing in front of the landing platform. Nev
