  1. Authorities have been long aware that the VET system has been, and is being rorted to the tune of billions of tax payers money. Very little in the way of responsibility and accountability ever seems to be forthcoming from the politicians and those who should be overseeing this lending.

This is from December 2016 (3 yrs ago) .......ironically it asks "How did this go on for so long?" yet here here we are in 2020 and it's STILL going on.

  2. No offence but I dont think you looked very far for a good weight/performance RAA registerable aircraft

I would have to agree. I'm getting about 263 kg usable load for a 152?..... very ordinary.

Drinking avgas (24 lph)compared to unleaded 95 (17 lph) for a Rotax and compulsory "LAME maintained" is a negative, not a positive for me....

And 40 yr old airframes where ANYTHING costs an arm and a leg......

  3. To some extent lsa pricing is relative to engine hours....

Probably more so than manufactured date and fit out...

There is a Foxbat that has just come on the market locally (WA), 200 odd engine hours. 2007 build...

ASKING $74 000..... Registered GA exp....

Not sure how much he could be knocked down, but could be good value.

You might even be able to twist my arm to deliver it...lol.

  4. This one is with this site. I am unable to locate how to stop emails. I could do it  before a number of software changes. It appears that I must select the no email option for each topic individually. I receive so many emails - this list from 5 pm yesterday to midday today. (The rest are spam).

I spend an inordinate amount of time deleting emails, which I don't need, as I am on What's New (All) almost every day. I have resolved the problem on WUA, but not here. Usually I can work out these problems and help others with them, but this one has me beat.

This is what I have to do EVERYTIME I post on a thread for the first time.

  5. @$&!!! Just bought one from BCF for $99. Thanks for the tip anyway.

If you are interested in getting the $40 back from your now used life jacket, it is entirely possible.

    1. Go into bcf claim their "price match" policy and buy one more.(I know this works as I just got 2 for $118 half an hour ago)

    2. Go into bcf sometime later (maybe a few days) and return the newly purchased life jacket with the original receipt for $99 and get a refund. Bobs your uncle, You have now purchased your life jacket for $59.

For anyone who has bought and used an item, then seen it on special, this maybe a way of getting that special price retrospectively.......

    Big thanks to Cosmick ?

  6. The best syndicates I have heard of are those where there are a couple of keen pilots and a bunch of sleeping members which always makes me wonder why sleeping members bother to be part of it in the first place.

There is a local active pilot and aircraft owner. He has always rented space and never bought or built a hangar.

long term, owning a hanger is cheaper and he had the funds so it baffled me.

Then I found out there was another partner in the aircraft. I had seen him once in 5 yrs......

Obviously this bloke was paying half the hangarage so for the active pilot renting was good value.....

  7. Correct. You need air pressure on the rudder to force it to a position where it counteracts the yaw, and the fixed trim tab does this - at least near enough for most flight regimes.

So, I'll need to set the trim tab to counteract the left yaw. (Move rudder to the right)

As the rudder is directly connected to the pedals,  this means I will still be be right pedal down (even if neutral ), so will therefore need to adjust the turnbuckles to level the pedals?

I have no centralising springs on the rudder system as some do.....

  8. Yes, it's been like this for a long time and I've just lived with it.

As the control surfaces have both primary and secondary effects it's a bit of a head scratcher where to start.

The aileron has a fixed trim tab too.

There is also the option of adjusting the turnbuckles to move the rudder....

  9. Which way to you bend a fixed rudder trim tab to counter excessive right rudder? Meaning right rudder is required (right foot down) to maintain stable straight flight.

I guess it could be viewed that there is excessive left rudder and right rudder is required to correct it?

    A bit confused.....
