  1. No.... RAA aircraft are allowed
  2. I like the Tailbeacon X if you can swindle the 50% subsidy that would be great. Brings it back to $2500 I have a SE 2 I was going to use in Mabel but thinking of applying for a Tailbeacon but using it in the RANS when I get it done. You can only claim for a aircraft that is registered. I have a rego number for Mabel but it wont be my end game. The S-21 will be the one I keep but cant get a subsidy for it yet. Even getting one for Mabel will be a bit dodgy as she isnt flying yet but now far off Mark
  3. Just got a email about the subsidy says it opens in 75 days Details below follow the check eligabity link https://www.uavionix.com.au/?mc_cid=94320d6cfc&mc_eid=9b6b4b3753
  4. Pulled the mold off this afternoon. It took a few hours but eventually I got it free after destrying the frame it was built on. Seems reasonable so need to clean up the main part of the lower cowl then look at where the graft will sit and make the new cod piece
  5. Danny Leach came over this morning to give me a hand to make the mold for the lower cowl piece. I have coated the section in wax and sprayed a coat of release agent over the section then a thick coat of brushed white gelcoat. Today there are 3 layers of chopmat over the gelcoat then sections of coremat and another layer of glass over the top. The coremat gives the mold some strength but still allows some flex if you need it. I will leave this now for 3 or 4 days then try to separate it from the cowl. That will be the interesting bit.
  6. That is what CASA are doing now...they want responses about why the 45kt limit should be lefted
  7. There are plenty in Europe with them on. The factory obviously allow them on in Europe. You just need to get the factory approval....note I said FACTORY approval NOT the local guy approval Mark
  8. Thats because CASA has in its charter to be as obstructive as possible no matter the cause
  9. Its going to be a while..a lot of the documention is done apparently but there are a few sticking points that they are trying to get sorted so CASA doesnt reject it straight off..well thats what they are trying to do. But CASA is CASA...
  10. its the same thing. The spec has been set by the maker and the MTOW is the gross weight it can be flown at
  11. Yes a guy in WA has one...He loves it I lost all my emails on this computer for some reason back to march 2020 I will email him .. I am not sure if he is on this forum Mark
  12. https://www.radialmotion.com.au/ Apparently originally designed in SA for aircraft but seemingly getting put in cars and bikes. I have a call tonight asking me about them and I had to go and look it up. Very interesting 35k for a engine 75kg weight up to many hundreds of HP but around 100 to 150hp for aircraft
  13. That connector as a add on clip connector is not available. The next size up is. I got a couple of the 24 size I think it was ...but too big. There is no coax tail for that one. Only the test port plug which they use to push in when they test the unit. The easiest way will be bypass the connector on the pcb with some micro surgury with your own coax tail. Thats what i am going to do with mine. I havent done it yet and I dont have a aircraft finished yet to fly but hopefully soon. Its just another add to my long list of jobs 😞
  14. Any freight from the USA is expensive...UPS or Fedex..non std box size is always expensive. But go online and see the UPS site. Sometimes it can surprise you
  15. Finally had a little bit of time to work on Mabel's lower cowl mold. Filled and sanded many times and a couple of coats of spraybog then sand and fill what I could see that needed it then more sanding and a little more shaping. Almost ready for another coat of spray bog and that should be it so I can start to make the mold and get it done. This has been a bigger part of the project than I thought it would be. Once thats done and it is grafted onto the remainder of the lower cowl then I have to so some small cutting and welding mods to the exhaust system to fi better that it is now. Then I am finishing off the avionics wiring then setup my dual controls and I can think about moving her to the hangar.
  16. The C172 has a cockpit width of 40 inches the RANS S-21 that I am about to start building has a cockpit width of 46.5 inches It will be in Group G with the Rotax
  17. When all this was proposed I read somewhere that CASA had done their numbers and of aircraft on the register there was only a possibility of 210 aircraft going across to Group G All because they maintained the 45 kt stall speed...they knew what they were doing It has though of course opened up for anyone building or wanting to build something in the lighter experimental category it wil or should slip into Group G easily
  18. You can get high tensile bolts pretty long...I would try that first
  19. Well there is the usual one here..but I didnt pickup on the second one 🙂
  20. I believe she was or still is a pilot Maybe not but she grew up on a station out at Cloncurry so I suspect she has had a lot to do with aircraft and pilots
  21. The senators certainly didnt hold back for a change.
  22. CASA the video says it all...watch the lot
  23. Mandalorian helmet?
  24. I always use a fuel stabilizer in my fuel. It solves the problem of how long you can leave fuel in the tanks. Obviously not for 12 months but for 4 to 12 weeks is ok
