The question I prefer to ask myself is...."What would have been the outcome if instead of pushing for war the British had pushed for peace with Germany?"

And the winner will be The insurance companies...when we all stop them from paying up...ironically the exact thing they exist for. Bastards make billions...and then lobby to cap payouts the poor babies.'And the winner will be...?The lawyers!

Applied Economics - Is injury compensation excessive? (short answer is NO)
"In Australia, excessive awards in personal damage cases are widely perceived to have created a public liability crisis and cuts in valued services. This paper analyses whether awards for damages are excessive. The paper starts by setting out a normative basis for awards based on welfare economic principles and amounts that individuals are willing to pay to avoid injuries. It then provides estimates of appropriate compensation sums for 27 typical injuries ranging from broken arms to quadriplegia and severe brain damage. There follows an analysis of 192 court awards for injuries greater than $250 000 in New South Wales between 1991 and 2002, including awards for 101 traffic accidents, 64 workers compensation cases, and 27 personal injury cases. The paper concludes that these court awards are broadly consistent with economic estimates for damages and that the awards are generally not excessive."

I wonder what the black strap going under his chin and over his head is??? It looks like a strap for his officers cap but it stays on his head when he swaps the officers cap for his flying cap.
Anyone? My thought is it may have been related to his injury from a previous crash...? I've seen footage of him with bandages around his head but not like this.

I wonder what their definition of an "Ultralight" is...?

Let's hope that is the flying God's three and they leave it there.

Not the best publicity...
"Many of the safety issues that we will hear about today arose not from the novelty of a space launch test flight, but from human factors that were already known elsewhere in transportation," said Mr Hart.

I wonder if Aerochute sells their machines without rego? Is it legal for a local aircraft manufacturer to sell an unregistered aircraft? But really the RAAus have no part in it. It's not registered and the pilot is not qualified (officially)_ Just WHAT authority does RAAus have over this individual? The police have that. That's the way it operates EVEN when the person is under the auspices of the RAAus. The STATE Police and the coroner (if applicable) We are only called in as advisors at the discretion of the police. We can't force our way in even if we wanted to. NevI would imagine even if this aircraft is unregistered it probably has been in the past. Maybe CASA will still be asking Ra-Aus questions because aircraft disappearing off the register would be something that they expect Ra-Aus to be checkin on....? If you just fail to re-register your aircraft does CASA or Ra-Aus just forget the machine ever existed? Or is their paper work required?
-
Huh? Is this just an automated response?
“It sounds as though it was a very well-executed ditch,” president David Booth told the ABC.
“The pilot sounds as though he has done a great job of safely landing the aircraft on the water and getting the passengers out.”

And by the way...this is getting BIG publicity. Perhaps BAD publicity.
I came across this on Social Media before coming to this sight and finding this thread. I think there were a lot of locals with their smartphones pointed at the sky who may now sharing.

I was wondering about that...Seeing the news today about the PPC incident, apparently the pilot was not injured as he quickly put his trike away and drove away before the police arrived.Hope they find him, pardon the french but what a jerk.I have seen this Aerochute in town...at least I imagine there is only one. He won't be hard to find. It's not such a big place.

Yep...but never let the obvious get in the way of a good 'story'... Just human nature for a certain percentage I guess.Depends how long the firemen took to find the bolt cutters in the tool box. Once the fire got hold it would be only seconds before who knows what. -
If it is a standard feature of that aircraft yes. I am saying that does not always seem the case.Well obviously if the aircraft is equipped with a constant-speed prop and that produces enhanced performance you would naturally advertise it as such! -
So would I be correct in that the problem is people tend to quote the constant speed prop/best case scenario cruise speed when selling the finer points of an aeroplane?Nong is right on the money - we have a P2004 Bravo on the field - he gets 115-120kts cruise with an Airmaster constant-speed prop - and just as important - great climb rate at the full 5800 rpm and the ability on full fine to come in to short strips at a steep angle of descent without gaining excessive speed. The owner couldn't believe the difference when he fitted the Airmaster. Not cheap (around NZ$10,000 all up?) but well worth it in his view.-

I reckon it is a shame Legend doesn't sell a clipped version of the Classic... for me this is the winner of modern Cubs whether clipped or not. It's even the right colour.
