  1. I think it is time for people to just come out and say it... I don't know anyone who "of the record" has anything positive to say.

I remember reading briefly about the registration fraud a while ago... until it suddenly seemed to disappear.

I was concerned then... and my experience with being a member in the brief time since then has reinforced my concern.

Come on people... what really gives with this whole thing. There are people on these forums who I believe can answer the questions the discrepancies in the minutes raise for us... or would the Ra-Aus hierarchy not be amused if it is all outed here due to the political nature of the board?

  2. I understand that the minutes are just a reflection... but as a paying member of Ra-Aus I am extremely worried about this. We have a situation where some members who were there and the minutes show that there was some controversy with the financial statement... The accountants step in and... according to what I am reading here say "according to what we have to tell you by law... we don't have to tell you anything"...

Even if this is a storm in a teapcup this is not something that I would expect to be handled in this manner by the Ra-Aus employees... The attitude shown as posted by members here when dealing with Ra-Aus and my own brief dealings are a little confusing... This is not a case of just one small group of people having a concern...

Just ignoring this is not going to help anyone... And waiting until the next board meeting to attend and ask for answers is not acceptable... and I am sure the board would not want that.

  3. Minutes are meant to summarise a meeting and highlight any decisions made, not give a running commentary of it. If you want more detail then make the effort to attend like I did.

I am sure burbles that you did not mean to suggest that those of us asking could not be bothered making the effort to attend. It is a mighty big ask from North Qld or WA (or just about anywhere further from Canberra than the Sydney Basin.. lol).

That is why we rely upon the minutes and transparency from those who were there... It would be nice to know that the issues as raised above (and quoted directly from the minutes) were questioned by the membership in attendance before voting? As you were there do you recall any talk about this?

  4. "A general discussion was held regarding the Audit Report, clarification of categories of expenditure and level of detail of accounts, specifically miscellaneous expenses. "

"It was agreed by the Treasurer that he would obtain a breakdown of this expense and promulgate it."

"The meeting was advised that an Agenda item covering financial reporting was due to be discussed in the Board meeting following"

Yet it was all "above board" so to speak... and to be discussed in private at the board meeting following... Ok. So board members... Please tell us what is up with Ra-Aus? Is this something to worry about? Or are you bound by confidentiality?

  5. Hey guys thanx alot for all your advice.......after much debate Ive decided to do the 150hr CPL course full time at TVSA out at Bacchus Marsh. I met with the CFI not long ago and he seemed like a pretty straight shooter. I have the time and the money so i figure why screw around when I can study full time and get my CPL in a year (all going well of course).May sound a little naive but im pretty motivated and believe i can achieve anything i set my mind too.

    Thanx again :)

Go for it! If the money is not an issue you will be sitting in the right hand seat of an airliner in no time...

    Good luck.

  6. A recent post got me thinking about Edmund Schneider... the GRUNAU BABY was one of his earliest contributions to recreational flying.

It is amazing to think that 20 or so years after this aircraft first appeared he moved to Australia and continued to design so many more wonderful aircraft... Truly an amazing Aviation Story with an Aussie twist.

This was recreational flying the way it used to be...

This is interesting... A link to an account of the test flights, first aeros and flying a group of Grunau's with small engines to airshows in Germany in the 30's. This site has some good info on the Grunau design.
