  1. Most recently I bought the 90° choke cable tube from AliExpress and throttle adjuster from a go kart shop
  2. Thats fine. Like the Opel/Vauxhall fuel pump. But if no one gives me a definitive part number, right now I'm not going to muck around with it. Remember I tracked down the Denso solenoid part number and a possible aftermarket starter motor. I'm onboard with avoiding the Ro-tax 😄

  4. Yeah, even at $50 I wouldn't mind. A guy at work kept saying to me- 50 bucks! What a Rip off! But 50 bucks isn't even half a tank of fuel in my plane. And I'm happy to just burn that up 😁

  8. My original statement was that V8s supercharge nicely. Nothing you are saying negates that 🙂
  9. No lag on a supercharger - that's why they use them for drag racing. Plenty or not, when you are on the road, and you see a Mercedes with a 'Kompressor' badge, it has a nice lil supercharger nestled quite neatly in the confines of the engine bay 🙂
  10. Most people assume a supercharger to mean mechanical, usually belt driven. And then a turbo supercharger is just referred to as a turbo. V8s in cars generally have ONE mechanical supercharger. The way the inlets sit inside the V lends itself to that configuration
  11. I picked something deliberately lairy to make a point 😁 There are plenty of regular cars with mechanical superchargers nicely confined in the engine bay. Look at the Mercedes Kompressor range.

  14. Seems to me if I just go with the Castrol gear previously mentioned, which available from Repco I should be golden. It also means if I'm travelling and find i need more I can get it from many car parts stores. Heh. If my plane ever gets to the point I can fly it anywhere...

If it's something complicated and bespoke, I'll go genuine. But Rotax don't make the carbies, or the parts hanging off them. So why pay the Ro-tax?
  23. I have to remain optimistic that my plane will be flying this year, and with it I'll do my navs. With that in mind what are some easy to handle fly ins etc around the place? Flying from Boonah, so SE QLD and Northern NSW I think would be a good start.
  24. I like that head and cylinder is cast in one piece. Potentially less to go wrong.
  25. I have an aviasport tacho and I notice that the gauge face is paper and is slightly lifting. There's a chance it might stop the needle. How is yours? Flush?
