Most CL planes have a larger inboard wing

Most of the fun is in the building of it for me. Which is why I built an ultralight. That turned out to be the most un-fun thing I've ever done 😄 Next model I'll build, probably once the ultralight is gone will be a club racer. Again like you say not particularly exciting to fly per se, the excitement there of course is in getting the best time. After that, I won a carrier model in the club raffle. We don't do carrier, but it's big and aerobatic. Will run a .35. has drawings for third line throttle so I might add that too for a bit of fun 🙂

Doesn't matter if I use it or not afterwards if I have to have one for the tests.

I'm flying rag and tube bushplane so I suspect I won't need that extra bit 😄 I'll probably go with the Jeppesen then. Thanks for the info 🙂

Does ra aus navigation exam come under ppl?

I only got up to my first nav about 25 years ago, so now it's time to get back into it. First time around I had (still have) a Jeppesen CR-5. It looks bloody minute now! About to order some stuff. I recall seeing the ASA type computer, and thought they looked interesting, but my flying school at the time used Jeppesen. What are people's thought's on the pros and cons? One pro for Jeppesen is compactness of course, although the CR-3 is 6" . I think there used to be a CR-4, but even in the 90's it was discontinued. Also, what other bits and pieces will I need for studying? I'm ordering some new WAC and VNC. I still have an ASA ATC-RP1 ATC navigation plotter. Will also get a Flightrule navigation protractor.

And who are the most successful lawyers? Criminal lawyers 😄

So a few months ago I was doing a lot of touch n gos on a damp grass strip, so of course got quite a bit of crap under the wings etc. I did a rough spot clean back then but last weekend I decided to give him a proper bath. Once a year whether he needs it or not 😄 Well, maybe he needs it more than once a year because when you're washing a plane, you are looking at parts of the plane you don't often look at, or at different angles for things you see all the time. I found three loose bolts on my radiator 😲 I know why, and it wasn't because of me. I won't go into that. But whether it's someone's elses fault or not, the buck stops with the pilot. I had an instructor who got me in the habit of checking random things you may not look at in your 'standard' walk around. I haven't actually picked up anything yet on my plane doing that (although I did find something on the last hire plane i flew), but I also do it with work vehicles, which have check lists. Sure enough, looking at random things NOT on that list meant I've found a number of faults most other drivers wouldn't notice. But back to the plane. Most of my random checks are INSIDE the engine bay. These bolts are outside the bay. And I haven't done many random checks of the airframe in general. So I'm going to step up those RBTs (random bolt tests 😄 )

Thanks. I wanted to see what I could do with what I have, and with as little effort as possible 😄 It seems to be better than before. As Nev says - it seems to be a dark art! My last test I got a radio check from a guy about 12 nm away, reading 5. He was in a Drifter but flies 737s for a living. He said not to overthink it, my radio seems plenny good enough for our lil planes. So it may not be brilliant, but better than one or two I've heard before so will suffice for now. I haven't fiddled with settings much. Im ashamed to admit I don't even know much about squelch.

In point of fact, the drones would probably be fully autonomous, so no pilots required at all in the future
