    I'm doing a cargo area. Bolted into a chrome moly frame. Bunnings, a caravan builder or speciality aircraft wood. I'm after the lightest strongest available with cost In mind. It's not structural. Thanks Lyndon

    I happy to say it has arrived safe and sound. Take aways are. Cost to box Cost to ship to the port. Shipping Taxes. The cost of shipping from Melbourne to Adelaide Insurance for all of the above It took 5 months. A bit ridiculous but its here. Now inventory and sort my building area out. I'm hoping for an 18 month build. Not much will happen for a while My YouTube if interested is Kitfox tails I will post some pics in the coming days.

    They do have Finland birch as well in the wings. With Donnie in charge now I can see them planting Birch trees in the USA. Also Rotax setting up a line in the USA, I would suggest one to two thousand units a year with the tariff would be substantial. Plus all the other Rotax engines They produce over 200,000 per year, with the US being the biggest consumer. At 50k an aircraft engine, let's say half is the tariff component. That's 7.5k Your Rotax aircraft engine is now 57500. That's 87,500 AUD. Makes them cheap in Australia 🤔

    I sure do. SS7 I think everyone knows the Rotax is not USA made. Not that I took any notice of where all the parts are made, nor do I care. To be fair the engine, no matter what brand is not in the kit. They only sell two kits. Firewall back and firewall forward. Maybe this is the reference to made in the USA. They are suppliers of Rotax, Garmin and lots of other suppliers I'm sure. They can supply or if you wish to buy elsewhere you can and then install into your kit. I took this option and bought the Austrian engine from Bert Flood. Lyndon

    I have no idea. I'm not the man who knows. I just bought a kit from what I understand is a very popular plane. It's a completely standard off the shelf kit. I would think after my dealings with Kitfox most of the aircraft are 916 powered. Maybe some 912 IS but nothing with a carby is catered for now in a new build. That's not to say you can't fit a lot of different engines. But firewall forward kits production / stock are Rotax. If you ask the owner, John McBean the Rotax 916 is their bread and butter. Like most aircraft today I think. Lyndon Rational? It's the preferred engine for this kit. Lyndon

    Ok. The aircraft has to be registered. Eg ready for flight. Finished, surveyed and rego. Then you apply if the rebate is still in the system. So pretty easy. Pre wire, pre mount, pre antenna with GTX 45R template and it's a two minute slip in behind the seat and program it into the G3X. Then apply for half the money back. Sounds easy doesn't it 🤔 Lyndon

    Yes your quite correct. But I was referring to the 915. 60k for a 1200hr engine or 70k for a 2000hr engine. Both ridiculous prices but no-one is going to buy the 915. Lyndon

    I believe you can get with and without a wass GPS. It then talks with the G3x. I think. My biggest question is at what stage of the build can you get it registered. Would be be nice to have it in place before the plane is buttoned up

    The 915 is now redundant. It's 1200 TBO makes no sense to purchase it. Lyndon
