    I don't put that much trust in the ATSB findings. Myself and Mark Kyle (Kylecom) witnessed a Cessna crash at YCAB some years back and were interviewed separately. We had a little plane model in our hand showing the last moments of flight and impact straight in. When later reading the results of the enquiry they had it cartwheeling down the runway. Mark and I looked at each other and shrugged.

    The type involved flies an elliptical wing with a 2 point attachment which can stall. the common machine in Aus the Aerochute has a rectangular wing and 4 point attachment and cannot spin or stall but its not a sporty machine. No fatalities in this type in Aus been available for 30 years. We are now seeing some of this new type in this country requiring significantly more skill to operate.

    Lucky that the Cyclone slowed down and didn't cross till Lunchtime. There is a 5m + difference between high and low tides, High Tide was around 8am and had fortunately subsided prior to the storm surge.

    A false alarm is not a situation that may have gone but didn't and if able should be canceled ASAP. If a misuse of equipment then a steep fine should apply.

    Like most open cockpit flyers I have been frustrated with Comms especially radio communications. Have recently been trialing Sena Motorcycle comms buitl into the helmet with radio interface for UHF and VHF and WOW it actually works very good. All wireless the bluetooth intercomm works up to 2km. Paired to iphone and due to very good noise cancelling Siri works and calls are clear at both ends. HD music if you want it and it works great and ive got a 503 within 12 inches of my head. there is a chap in SA who has created aviation packs. I wont advertise him here but if you want his details PM me. (how is that any different).

    In this recent video in the MTOW increase thread, Linke talks about CTA and MTOW from 15.00 and Medicals from 23.00. They will never abandon "Drivers Licence Medicals" for RAA membership so I would say that includes the new group G up to 1500kg and CTA. RAA MTOW increase?
