Its been hot and wet (not everywhere) and soon good flying weather will return. Unfortunately so does a rise in accident statistics. What are you going to do to prepare yourself and your dream machine for the skies.

Gareth pipped you by 1, was 31 yrs last August. i'm sure there are some older aviators out there that will well exceed that, but these days many don't last. Thomo the old farts are giving advice but persevere, there will be plenty of little hiccups along the way but they are character building. (see oldies even punctuate their comments)

It was just like any other day when suddenly following the events of a few seconds you know it is a day you will remember for the rest of you life. So sad that 5 enthusiastic people came to such a tragic end. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased and those of us who witnessed this first hand and have to rationalise the event in our own minds.

Sounds like porpoising which I understand can occur in fast cruise as maybe trying to increase ground speed against strong wind - just speculation

What a F*&k up. How much money and time has been spent searching in the wrong area. This information should have been available within the first few hours. We have a small business, landline with unlimited free calls to land and mobile (inc free diversions to mobile usually around 300 calls p/mth plus ADSL2 with 500gb with Telstra $130 p/mth. My mobile Telstra Boost $40 p/mth 2gb data and unlimited calls . Wife and teenage daughter on ALDI (reduced Telstra services) $35 p/mth each 1.5gb data and unlimited calls. 24 months ago I was paying around $600 p/mth business Landline and calls, $90 p/mth ADSL2 and $100 p/mth ea wife and I mobiles. So now $240 p/mth compared to $890 p/mth and my teenage daughter has a mobile and can't give me any nasty surprises like the previous 3 kids.

Difficulty is the FIA changes quite often and where is the dotted line. I was approx 20nm south of Gympie (FIA 124.6) but I was still on 129.o which I use outside YCAB CTAF, I received a proximity alert from Brisbane Centre confirmed by ident. Is it the same signal just repeaters on different frequencies ?.

Hi Nev, I'm with you, scares the S*%t out of me. Paragliders and Powered Paragliders can stall their wings, collapse then re-inflate (if they have got enough vertical space) otherwise :(. The Aerochute's Manufacturer has installed ring stops on the control lines which limits their travel and you cannot stall the machine. Foot throttle controls climb and decend. Regards Mike
