.......he slipped out the Airport (Avref.........missing from some Wreckfline recent posts) Road to the Gumly Gumly Pool Hall.
Now since some NES readers have expressed doubts about the existence of the town of Gumly Gumly, Turbo has helpfully provided a map showing the town, which in the 19th Century was the equivalent of Griffith's Bagtown.
Also shown, is a close up of Gumly Gumly's Chez Capitane Auto Motel, which has fallen on hard times due to an infestation of tiger snakes in the old cars.
You'll notice that East Wagga Wagga ends sharply at the north-South Tasman Road, and this is due to our old friend Constable Doubtfire who used to fling Wagga Wagga revellers clear across the road if she found them intoxicated at the GG Pool Gall.
For new readers, Turbo's first experience with Constable Doubtfire was during a business trip to Wagga when he innocently went down the street looking for a cafe to have lunch. There was a poor homeless woman (later found to be Captain's wife) lying in the street, which brought a tear to Turbo's eye, and he was just about to offer her money when there was a screech of tyres as a Divvy Van came to a halt and tghis uniformed she man jumped out, unlocked the door, walked over to the footpath picked up the lady and flung her into the Divvy Van so hard that there was a CLANG!!!! as she hit the front wall. Turbo has alwasy driver at 5 km/hr below the speed limit in Wagga Wagga since then, because..........

He has already raised his issues with the appropriate authorities and got nowhere, which was not unexpected. - tiring tho this may be, it should never be a reason not to try, try , etc again.
If Material Mistake was found in the Adelaide CTA, if a flight corridor were to be excavated through the Adelaide Hills, if a new power unit was found for aircraft that increased the selected percentile climb out performance, or similar, there would be a logical reason to try again, but if you just parrot off your pet wish list over and over again you risk being regarded as a serial pest.
He's also posted a lot of detail in previous posts, so we've covered it pretty much in the past. - my apologies must have missed that conversation. You really need to read the public statements and answers; nothing new has come up.
Just re-posting the same old same old isn't going to help anyone, and could put RAA in a bad light. The reason RAA gained the freedoms it has was a condition of staying out of these complex areas. - again just because an agreement has been reached on a given set of conditions should not preclude the agreement being revisited, especially when the original parameters would seem to be obsolete, and amended where appropriateIf original parameters become obsolete, of course you could look at changes. Adelaide CTA has not become obsolete.
- not familiar with Adelaide, so can not comment however the restrictions on small aircraft departing the Sydney Basin N & W certainly seem to impose significantly higher risk than appears necessary. This is about Adelaide CTA; each CTA has different design parameters.
As Facthunter has pointed out, CTA compliance requires ICAO performance and establishing one isn't just a case of sticking a few pins in a map. - please explain.I would expect the design factors of a CTA to go over 500 pages, but if you're interested in all the intricate factors like runways, runway headings, beacons, topography, entry points, purpose of dedicated areas etc. this link and Airport Architecture would be a good point to start.
- RAA is made up of individuals, why should the example of one pilots concerns, not be a valid argument for change? Is his/her life not worth protecting, if feasible to do so?One pilot can change entire policies if the facts stand up. On the other hand, just because one pilot wants to get home earlier doesn't mean that it's OK to drag 13,000 others through the mess.

Both Tyabb and Tooradin have great instructors, so you should be in good hands
My point was, once you’ve decided what category you’re going to fly in, that will decide the Instructor and the syllabus (RA or GA), and the instructor is the one to guide you on what to study for the pathway you choose in Australia.
That will take a load off your mind now, and make it a lot easier to study as you go forward. Learning something from a textbook written for another country and then having to forget it and learn something for Australia is more like 4 times harder than 2 times harder. Focusing on what the Instructor wants also gets the combined theory/practical into your subconscious faster and takes the thinking load off.

A cup half full sort of observation - thank you for restoring my faith in human nature.
What on earth are you trying to get at?
You're agreeing the pilot did everything correctly, but he and anyone else are a cup half empty and have destroyed your faith in human nature?

I think the different measurement system and rules are going to be a problem. The Feet and Metric mix is is particularly curious in Australia.

You'll make it extremely difficult for yourself if you try to teach yourself by picking up scraps of information.
Every Country has its quirks and if you want to qualify for something in Australia, best to select an Flying School/Club which trains the category you want to fly in, and discuss this with your instructor, who will tell you which reference material to study. If the flying school offers night classes, they are by far the best and fastest way to learn. I've seen many people totally confused by "advice" they get on this site; often someone's favourite author from the FAA system, which as you've already found doesn't apply here. A good instructor will produce a good pilot.

Cup half full = valid cup half empty. Where do you fit???
Not sure where that fits in; the pilot just followed the logical path.

Just realised that Caveat Emptor was probably wiped out by the 1974 Trade Practices Act.

The Mornington Peninsula did back in August, and there are launching fees in North Queensland, so there's no consistency.

My bloody BMW has had two radiators and is in the workshop having a coolant leak (and other things) attended to. Lovely to drive but need extra boot space to carry around the emergency maintenance money.
Just as a matter of interest, do you use the indicators?

Whatever happened to caveat emptor? You don't try to establish a meditation centre beside a rail shunting yard, and you shouldn't develop residential land adjacent to the extended centre lines of runways and expect the sounds of silence.
What gets my goat is that these newcomers complain about aircraft noise, but say nothing about the noise from motor vehicles with dodgy silencing systems, or emphysemic turbochargers.
Consider this. The pilot of an aircraft taking off has the required power setting in place about an eighth of the distance into the take off run, and maintains it to at least 1000" (approx 300 metres). Therefore the noise that the engine makes is constant to at least 300 metres altitude and then it is likely to reduce. However, Harry the Hoon, in his V8 ute with non-standard muffler system can be heard revving the t!ts off his engine up to a kilometre away, even in residential areas. What's worse? The occasional overflight giving rise to a constant hum, or frequent intermittent high decibel screams from motor vehicles?
Come to my place any weekend and see which causes the most disturbance.
The airfield owners usually only seek approval for their property, not the aerial traffic patterns, which is a curious omission.
Years or decades later dodgy developers by parcels of land from farmers, who are happy, retiring to the Gold Coast etc.
Years after that these developers sell off parcels for residential development with neither the seller or the buyer concerned about noise or supporting infrastructure like schools, shops.
The residential developer puts in roads, infrastructure lines and sells off housing lots and by a million to one chance forgets to tell the buyers there are no schools, shops, and there is an airport noise factor and potential flood factor etc.
After the buyers have spent a few nights in their new homes they discover this loud noise......
I've never seen caveat emptor mentioned in any planning document, ever. Perhaps it's something from the past which was discontinued. I've certainly heard it plenty of times, mainly from hopeful sellers.

I'm not suggesting they should be. All I'm saying is that as usual here in Australia, the rules are far more restrictive than need be (and getting worse), for no actual benefit (unless your business is safety , quality or training) and all the while they would have you believe they're doing YOU a favour.
If that’s the case that’s not what we were talking about.
-
As usual you've completely missed the point. Yes we have heaps of members doing exactly what they are told and when just so that they can aviate. Basically we're just taking the crumbs we're offered and expected to be thankful, also, many of those members you just mentioned are not actually recreational aviators, they are RPT/CPL in training.
Well I don’t think the rules are all going to be cancelled for someone at a Queensland country airfield.

"'''''''cut their throats, skin them, gut them and leave them to hang for a few days in the sun.".
The Captain, who was a City person was horrified. "Why would you do that to an innocent goat, they'little people just like us" he wailed.
"Because of your ancestry background" I can understand that" said Turbo sympathetically, but I won't tell the Captain Cook story. "Just as a matter of interest, where do you think goat meat comes from?"
"you milk a goat to get it" replied the Captain with that clever look he had perfected.
And that, NES readers is the owner of one of the biggest oil tanker fleets in the world, the Wagga Wagga Tin Shed Apartments, and the Gumly Gumly Driving School complex, where....
