I have to blow everything up to read it now.

Still spot a bug in a tree a hundred yards away, bloody words at 10" and I'm stumped.

Never mind mate, there are a few younger ones on this site (maybe not the majority) 😉but it comes to us all, so don't feel bad.

They come here to learn, and good on them. Hope they do,

Not sure whether long sight or short is the bigger bugger, Happy to settle for somewhere in between.

Well, it's obvious then, isn't it? - you've been a bad boy all year long!

    Santa been mouthing off again?

I'll organise a checkride for him with an examiner holding a gun, just to see how he handles an engine failure.

  3. The race that's stops the nation has just finished.

The horse I backed is due in about 7 o'clock tonight I think.

Just hoping for a strong tail wind.

Not sure whether the prevailing weather conditions match that of our met reports?:classic_wink:

  4. Know that feeling mate, I’m in the same league. For a mad keen rock-n-roller for decades, I’d probably be OK flying anti-clockwise, but anti-clockwise I’d be stuffed and plant it ready for the usual onfield cremation ceremony 🔥🤣

So the 'club' racer is a slightly reworked plan of the 1940's KK Phantom . I will pick up a plan from them this Sunday. It will be ages before I build it, but in my spare time I can get a kit of parts ready. I'll make patterns for the main parts as I'm pretty sure I'll build at least 2. The first is the homage to Dad and 12 yo me, and will be quite standard. Once I've done some flying with that one I'll know how to finesse the next one.

The one in the photo I think has something like an ED 2.49 or similar diesel. They are quite potent and like full size diesels have a better duration so great for team racer or similar. I'm using my original OS .15 glo which might be roughly the same power but of course will have a higher fuel burn rate.

I'm going incorporate the name Cherokee as part of the homage. But not on its own. Any ideas? It can be corny because , well I'm 12 yo again ☺️ For instance Cherokee Dream or Cherokee Spirit

  6. OMG! A Keil Kraft Phantom. That was the very first kit plane I built.

Mine had an 1cc ED Bee (1952 version) up front and was way underpowered, possibly as i'd put too much dope on the wings to get a good finish.

The model proved to be a good way to learn how to get fingers out of the way of the prop when starting.

No hand held electric starters back in those days.

  7. Marty you should be very proud of your achievements and the hurdles you’ve had to overcome along the way. It’s looking great and is a credit to your dedication to the task you set yourself. What I’m curious to know is does a bit of blaspheming help when things do not go as intended? 😜Rgds planet.

Had a sit in that one back around 1969/70ish when it was at the Biggin Hill Air show (UK). It was I think powered by a 6 cylinder Ford motor and was touted around many car shows etc around that time.

You sat in it and just imagined going for a fly. Haha!

We had a 3 engine ferry procedure on the BAe146 when I flew it with National Jet Systems, actually used it once to get an a/c to the BNE maintenance facility.

I understood the 146 sometimes needed a 5th. One to carry as a spare?

Perhaps that's why they are so quiet.

When I had a flight on Concorde Bahrain to London, i'm grateful they didn't do any aeros, but you could certainly see the curvature of the earth.

Could'nt understand why the window in the toilet was frosted? Who the hells going to see what you've got at 65,000ft?
