I do love it when a plan comes together, the stars all line up, and everything is right with the world:)F/A18-F onto a carrier with no hook, 2 failing engines and an unservicable crash-barrier?Pud

Well you could just sit around and blow smoke rings

I'll have a go...I was reading an article not exactly on human factors I got from somewhere, This term was mentioned. What does it mean?I reckon it's a landing you must have - in other words, no go around. Maybe deadstick or the landing you only get one go at - like the one at that airport in the Himalayas, what's it called... Lukla? You must land and you can't stop it!!

You could boil the water at the same timeOr you could use a oxy.Heating the area evenley and watching for movment, not letting it go over a dark cherry red.Once one side had moved a little l did the other side, until that moved a little then went back to the other side ect, until they were no longer moving and were even.
Very important not to qench it, just let it cool by itself, if it was cold day l would have put a heater on it to cool it even slower.
Then go in for the cup of tea.

Geoff, Geoff, Geoff:laugh:Great suggestions all. Bt you're missing the point, I wanted the sticker to cover a small hole made in error
:rofl:You had us all going there... Running off at a tangent I was, thinking about hemispherical rules and such:big_grin:Just chew some gum and shove that in the hole, bit of paint and you'll be apples mate:thumb_up:
Cheers,

The thing about Thrusters, and what attracted me to them, is they are essentially 'component' aircraft. It makes it relatively easy to renew parts as required. It would be entirely feasible to be flying a Thruster that only has the compliance plate as an original part.I'd be interested in knowing some of the times on Thrusters.OzziePud

Forgot to reply to your post earlier sseeker,Hi Pud,Yeah I did end up going, forgot to PM you, sorry about that! Is Jack getting a new aeroplane? Do you know what type? It's a nice setup alright, lots of friendly club members. I was flying at sunset without the doors, piece of cake really, handles the same.Regards,
Andrew
I believe its a Thorpe T18?? But probably just a toy for Jack:)

:big_grin:Hey,Pud,Have not seen the idiot around for a day or two (thank goodness).Asked about him, reply was "he went to have a look over the edge and just slid off in to space" So it wasn't just me.Very reassuring, I'm not going looking for him either. William

Well I wondered who would be the 1st forumite flushed out with a term like "suspect":big_grin:hi Pud..sorry..can't help with the sourcing of a new spar...but...why do you call the existing spar "suspect"??Well cficare, it gets down to whether I want to fly with a join in the leading edge spar - or not. The L2 I am dealing with assures me that the structural integrity is maintained with the repair that has been done on this spar, including the use of a sleeved insert to strengthen the joint.
The thing is, it will be my neck on the line for what I hope will be many hours of flight time, so it is a decision for me to make. I'm not experienced enough to make a judgement call on the structural integrity of the aluminium spar (my many years of experience in the building industry tells me it is not as strong as the original though) but for peace of mind I reckon I should replace it.
That's exactly what I am going to do when I find a supplier - drawing blanks at the moment:sad:

I need help guys,
My T500 Thruster has a suspect leading edge spar that I want to replace. It is made from 6061 T6 aluminium tube, needs to be 4730mm long x 21/2"od x 1/16" thick. Sorry for the mix of metric/imperial sizes:big_grin:
So far I have drawn a blank on sourcing a new one, and I hope you people can help me out here on where I might be able to get hold of a length.
Cheers,
Pud

How did you go today Andrew? I visited Bindoon this morning and left at 11.15 am. Spoke with Gary who said you were flying in the afternoon.Hi Mike,I was wrong, the Skyfox at Bindoon is infact a CA22. Apparently you won't have much luck finding a CA25 though.-Andrew
Also spoke with Jack - he's excited about his new aircraft arriving this week. It's a nice setup at Bindoon with 30 odd hangars.

My mate rang me from North Gabbin this morning....There is certainly something funny going on with the weather I have attached yesterday's RASP. Yesterday was a practice day so everybody practiced sitting around and looking bored. Last year he had less than 100mm of rain, yesterday he got 22mm with 17mm in a 10minute deluge. Go figure.

G'day YFT,Hi All, I am not going to buy into your debate about which is the best aerial. The one in the first post is a Dipole aerial, and in the photo it is mounted up side down. I have used that aerial for over 20 years on trikes. I also have one of the best radio responces from airservices and other aircraft. You need to have a full system, that means radio, aerial, and comms. get it right it works, get it wrong it give you a problem. If you don't believe me as David, or, Glen or anyone that has been on a Megafauna Flyaway, and they will let you know about my radio system. All the bestPeter.
How about you tell us about your system? We could all benefit from knowing what is so good about it.
Thanks in advance.

Ditto. What I found was get your mind of the sickness sensation and fill it with doing stuff like flying the aircraft. That way your body knows what is to come because you do the control inputs, therefore no surprises - well almost:)Well done mate. Don't worry about the airsickness. I was a bit crook after my first flight but no issues since. I also get seasick.I'm glad you enjoyed it and you are going back for more. It will get better motion sickness wise.

Nice Andrew,
I had a short fly in the Gazelle out of Northam a couple of weeks ago - very nice aircraft.
Maj, Bindoon Abandoned is on private property owned by the Christian Brothers - they operate a rural school from the property that used to be known as Keany College. My wife works for the Christian Brothers (but that does not mean I'm an expert:)). I believe the airstrip can only be used on weekends as it is very close to the army training ground there. It is an ex military airstrip although the entire length is not useable now - you can see the piano keys adjacent to the hangars in the trees, with plenty of 'strip' still in front, but not useable. It seems like a popular airfield with a lot of hangars in use there; I've been meaning to visit sometime to catch up with sseeker and Riley from the forums here.
