Hehehe, fun eh Dexter?Yep been there Chris as well. After a serious working bee on our Aero Club Hangar, climbing up & down ladders all day, I had a feeling the 22nm flight in the Gazelle back home may not be too good knowing my tendency to get leg cramps not to mention the cramped Gazelle cockpit. I was right, about 1/4 the way into the trip the left leg cramped. All I needed to do was straighten it out for a bit. I thought about opening the door, which you can do in the Gazelle & sticking it outside but decided to grin & bear it. I remember landing in agony not caring about the quality of the landing & as soon as the wheels were on the ground open went the door & out went the leg. All good by time I taxiied to the house. As Pud said keep up the electrolytes. My favourite & immediate cure is about half a teaspoon of salt. Its never let me down. I know not good for the arteries but everything in moderation as they say. Remember a Paramedic saying about using salt which he liked as well "At least I won't die from a brain haemmorage" Should put some in the Zephyr I guess but at least I can stretch my legs out straight in it.I don't really think hardening your arteries with salt would prevent a brain haemmorage though..........LOLCheers

It's why I've designed the instrument panel in my T500, without the centre section that extends down to the axle. That way I can spread my leg out straight if flying on my own. Like in this photo. That's my Granddaughter Maisey, cute eh?

Yep, been in that situation. And it's a relief to get back on the ground.
I have suffered leg/groin (no jokes now!! :)) cramps for many years now and have worked out I can get instant relief by drinking staminade. The active ingredient is magnesium I believe.
My cramps are brought on if I have been doing more physical activity than normal, so if that is the case I drink staminade before flying .
The first time it happened in the Thruster there was a moment of panic as my cramps take a long time to dissipate if I have no Staminade, but I soon realised that the pain just had to be pushed to the back of my mind to allow me to aviate - Northam airfield was a welcome sight let me tell you!!!

I dunno what's happening around Australia with the weather at the moment. We in WA, whilst having nothing like the weather events in the East, have had thunderstorms, firestorms and dust storms in a number of areas. I feel for the people who have lost homes to fire in the hills just beyond Perth - a terrible thing to have happen.
I visited Northam on Saturday to do some work on my T500, and was dismayed to see that 3 aircraft of 4 in the hangar sustained damage from a recent dust storm that created havoc across the wheatbelt. Here are some photos of the damage in the hangar at Northam to a Skyfox and 2 T500 Thrusters - my T500 sustained the least amount of damage.

Without being able to obtain the correct spring specification, but with very valuable assistance from T500, Striker and Poll, I was able to have new springs made at West Coast Suspensions (Jenkin Springs) for less than $200 for the set.:big_grin:

I have sourced a spar from Wade Mahlo and it should arrive here in WA on Wednesday. Wade is good to deal with and the spar cost $290 and $150 freight - but ya pay what ya gotta pay!!!
Wayne Fisher did some wing skins and numbers for me so everything is coming together. I reckon we'll go close to having the wings on this weekend.

G'day Spin,
Bianca petered out to nothing, virtually, here in Perth. Some damage was sustained in rural towns due to thunderstorms etc, which were indirectly caused by Bianca - roofs lifted off and trees down. We badly need some decent rain in the SW of WA but Bianca did not provide it, generally.

There is some really great footage on Youtube Maj, of the effort to cut off the supplies into southern Italy by bombing the bridges and rail lines. P-47 Thunderbolts were used. The story is in 5 parts but worth watching - about 8-9 minutes for each video clip.

It is about "362nd Group Army Air Corps based in Etaine, France. 377th Squadron's combat pilots flying P-47 Thunderbolts."Can't help you with the upload Pud, but I'd be happy to talk about Thunderbolts !I particularly like the footage of the pre start checks.

Definitely the season for it - the South West of WA including Perth is on Cyclone watch for Bianca, quite unusual for a cyclone to come this far down.Starting to look as though the various forecast models got it about right, Anthony is a cyclone again, heading this way and is supposed to strengthen over the weekend before dropping in for a visit. Best guess atm is Townsville and further north late Sunday/early Monday. Hope your yards are clean and aircraft safely tucked away.And if that isn't enough, Fiji Met and others are keeping an eye on what is likely to become Cyclone Yasi, who, if the various ridges/highs/jetstreams etc behave as forecast, may well come steaming across the Coral Sea and land around the same area at the end of next week! Sheesh, enough now.Pud

Well put kaz.Well, I reckon it's a reference to the mind-set that some people have that prevents them from deviating from a particular course of action once commenced.For a pilot, it's the inability to decide to do a go-around instead of persevering with the landing, for example. Even though their approach goes to crap and even though the cross-wind is gusting higher than their demonstrated x-wind max, they keep on coming.... CRUNCH!It's the same thing that drives people to keep on heading towards and eventually into the clag rather than turning around while safe to do so... sometimes called "press on-itis".
