  1. My friend was required by CAsA to have a stress test for his Class 2. He did it against the advice of his cardiologist. He had a coronary event during the test. He was never the same and died of it some time later.
  2. The applications for this were blown out of all proportion.
  3. I remember they had rucks and rovers but my detestation of football started so early I never found out what they were.
  4. From Wikipedia... The word derives from the Bengali word biletī, (older sources mention a regional Hindustani language but the use of b replacing v is found in Bengali and not Urdu) meaning "foreign",[4] which more specifically came to mean "European", and "British; English" during the time of the British Raj.[5] The Bengali word is a loan of Indian Persian vilāyatī from vilāyat meaning "Iran" and later "Europe" or "Britain",[6] ultimately from Arabic wilāyah ولاية‎ "state, province".
  5. Ah, there is the problem. Pushups. I never do them. Better to stress your heart with a good Cabernet Sauvignon. Good to hear from you Bex.
  6. And then CASA can reverse the decision of the examining DAME with no explanation.
  7. The trailing link undercarriage can cope with a crabbed landing. Or there is a retrofit kit for rudder pedals.
  8. I find it both stressful and depressing dealing with CASAs medical demands. I consider myself quite healthy but fall into several of their risk categories that demand several expensive tests. My renewal is currently on hold pending another round of tests, but of course I could sell my aircraft and fly RAAus, which I am considering. But the whole situation could cause mental depression and certainly does not help my quality of life, all for no safety benefit to me or the world at large. A good friend of mine suffered serious ill health and ultimately died because he was a keen pilot who failed to get medical attention because he wanted to continue flying. Others I know have suffered depression in similar circumstances. I believe there are many pilots who fail to seek medical help because of their fear of CASA, this is anecdotal but I hear enough stories to give it foundation. And then there are the many pilots who have told me it is just foolish to be honest on the CASA medical renewal questionnaire. it is a deeply flawed and counter-productive system.
  9. See https://www.recreationalflying.com/topic/37333-casa-and-bristell/?do=getNewComment
  10. There is a 1946 Ercoupe on RAAus reg for sale at present. I have fancied one for years. Any comments?
  11. This is worth a read https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1WyIFBvIVXGaVdfRkFGM0UtYjA/view
  12. Hmmm... in my plane I should have said $200 plus the focaccia.
  13. Was there on Wednesday, she said Sundays are no longer open as no one came. I agree, a great stop for a $100 salami focaccia And a flat white.
  14. It is interesting because Bristell is still on my list of possibles and if they are wrongly disparaged (as Jabiru were) then they may become a great value buy.
  15. Which major shonkies? I have skimmed though not read the whole thing and cannot see them.

  17. Microair no longer made or supported. I had a good run from one.
  18. THis is what unstable in pitch looks like.
  19. Bex had his engine project seeming on the brink of success, then he disappeared for a while. Then came back with the aircraft project, which seemed on the brink of success, then he has disappeared again. Hope he is OK.
  20. It makes me sad that we have trolls here. I enjoy everyone's contribution, but there is no need for the trolling which in the end will destroy this site. It isn't new, it has happened on and off for a decade. Good wishes to all.
  21. This thread is like a Road Runner cartoon. Both sides think they understand physics, but haven't grasped cartoon physics.
  22. Those AGL tiles are very large and based on the tops of hills, so there would be no space under Class E in many areas. edit... so I had been told, but in thinking about it, the ground profile in the display looks pretty detailed and may be sufficient.
