    I bought a brand new aircraft then paid to have several firewall penetrations properly sealed.

    CASa don’t process your medical they just file it. It is kept in case you crash when they can pull it out and put it in a report. They have few or no medically qualified staff.

    In my business experience, you can amend a document by hand and initial the change, then send it in with your payment. If they accept the money they have accepted your amendments.

    Nev I have been here a long time too, though not as long as you. I think you have become more cranky or cantankerous over time and it can annoy people. I have learned not to express my views too often, mainly on the other forum, as it just annoyed people and brought personal attacks. I believe deeply in my own views on some things and wish I could change the thinking of others, but I have largely given up trying. Cheers, Peter.

    I challenge whether a properly maintained Rotax912 has a higher failure rate than say an O320.

    Still on the gold mining theme, a super sucker can lift big lumps of broken rock up to 120 meters from a shaft. That’s why your prop can lift bits of gravel half a metre or so from a taxiway if you don’t keep moving.

    I had a 912 engine without a carb heater and it never needed it. My present plane has one and it has been needed a couple of times, quite effective. But it has no effect on RPM during a run up.

    The bird thing is important. I put rubber seal strips on the edges of the doors.

    If you lose your ASI fly crosswind and final at the usual speed in the usual configuration. If the attitude is right you should see a rate of descent of about 500 fpm. If not, adjust.
