  1. Most of us are old enough to remember the fuel crises of the 70's, that was a minor glitch compared to this virus crises. Then when they said there was only enough fossil fuel left in reserves to last 30 years, 4 cylinder cars were all the rage and you could buy a low milage Ford LTD for $300. If things get as bad as people are saying then there will be a lot of stuff sold/traded or even abandoned. Look at the sub prime crises, houses were just walked away from with money owed being many times the value of the building. People who owe a lot of money are in for some pain. I see a property developer asking a restaurant owner for his months rent of 64k (how can you make any profit paying that a month!!), there are many examples of pressure being put on people to pay rent. When people can't afford rent/food, hobbies will cease to be a pastime. If this crises goes as long as they say then there will be a lot of cheap aircraft.
  2. But what happens if we get an alien invasion while the aircraft is on the conveyor belt? That's just as relevant as the original question.
  3. Agreed KG, no fly.
  4. When it all boils down, you just fly the aircraft. It helps to know a wee bit of the science behind it but ultimately you need the stick time. Fly as much as you can, get somebody who knows what they are doing to help you train. It's not that hard.
  5. Even some government officials are saying this dept won't have to be repaid, same as wartime dept. Country and international economics do not compare/equate to household budgeting, no matter what some say with an Austrian accent.
  6. That's good. Usually after a long drought there is a rash of accidents, that's maybe the 4th I've heard of in the last month or so.
  7. Have you been watching me land?
  8. Are they are saying 18 months before effective vaccine?
  9. Brave, looks like it hit pretty hard.
  10. No idea what you mean Nev? Do you mean all can train low level? Or all should?
  11. A private PC9?
  12. Interesting how they call Trumps lies untruths now or falsehoods, they are bloody lies. He is clearly saying stuff that is not true, thereby a lie.
  13. The premise is the aircraft is in a stationary position (Hence no airflow over the wing) on a moving conveyor belt. If you power up the aircraft it will then accelerate to take off speed thereby getting airflow over the wing, the aircraft is no longer stationary relative to it's resting position and has a normal take off roll. An aircraft cannot fly without airflow over the wing. The only video I have seen was the Mythbuster rubbish where they accelerated on a moving belt being towed by a car or something. The aircraft powered up and did a normal takeoff while the car pulled the rug out. The aircraft moved and took off normally, it was a Zenith or similar and had a very slow take off speed anyhoo.
  14. Yes it is, but you don't need to know flame propagation and the physics of the drag coefficient of over 50 weight oil on cross hatching and ring scraping action to know how to increase throttle to get higher revs. Do the complete training and know your aircraft. Low level handling should be part of every-bodies training, RAA and GA, including downwind turns.
  15. Aircraft on conveyor belt, no matter how fast the wheels go round, propeller producing thrust, if there is no airflow over wing = Aircraft no fly. Can't put it any simpler.
  16. Stop it, there you go thinking again................................................................Just fly the aircraft
  17. Then we don't need wings to fly just a conveyor belt? If there is no airflow over the wing the aircraft will not fly, no if's buts or maybe's.
  18. AND don't write up snags unless you want to be unemployed
  19. ? Bit like a journey, the destination is important but there's a lot to see and do on the way.
  20. Yes, similar to a Merlin. The PC9 installation is flat rated back to 900(shp) I think. You get what you pay for, big HP, big fuel flow. The 802 has the same engine but most now have a PT6-67 F which is rated to 1700 SHP, is nice to have when you need it.
  21. Not sure how they achieved those figures, a PT6-67 uses 80 litres an hour fuel flow at idle!
  22. Even if they were tip top condition they would be very expensive to operate. Cruise fuel flow of 300 litres plus.
  23. The likes of Indonesia with it's 70% smoking rates of males and non existent health system will take a big hit.
