Actually, I have the PERFECT wife. She has been happy to ‘tolerate’ and partially fund 3 aircraft builds; 2 aircraft restorations; the building of one 12m sailing catamaran, and she hates shopping with a vengeance (although when she does do any shopping her starting point with a salesperson is to start and end with the most expensive option). Since my retirement 15 years ago she continues to bring in more funds (which she mostly spends on dogs and anti-animal cruelty organisations). Her dismay with me keeping the Corby is that it is the sort of aeroplane that tempts one to do what one shouldn’t, particularly as one gets old. Besides, she still stores her Ducati racing motorbikes under one of my aircraft which she hasn’t raced since being pregnant with our first born who is now in her 40s. Which is understandable because she’s got Buckley’s chance of fitting into her size 8 one piece racing leathers. I do admit that I’m having difficulty convincing her of the merits of building a 2 person submarine and/or an airship.5 points

no headwinds today so i did 60 knts everywhere at 16.6 lph 6000rpm. a lot of fuel but pretty good for a 618 i think. hks would be down around 10 lph. paying for fuel doesn't bother me . its range that i want.3 points

Fast aircraft have to be a lot faster to make a real difference on a long trip. The main advantage with the gazelle would be fuel economy if that is something that concerns you. Fit your HKS turbo to the xair and there would not be much difference in speed, range between the them. I am minding a Skyranger with 100hp rotax in my shed atm, they are a great all-rounder if you can only have one aircraft.3 points

Also include where it is located. How far it has to be relocated will have a serious effect on how much it will cost the purchaser.3 points

Dean, You will get more interest if you can list some proper details of the build and a expected price. We should not have to "fish" for basic info. If you want a sale esp to a pilot that will complete it, you need to attract is with details.3 points

Folding the wings every time doesn't help a Gazelle. On a Hot day It won't go very high either. It might Bore you after a little while.. It WAS a Popular trainer for a Long time. Nev2 points

it's not about what everyone else loves it is what you will be happiest owning and flying. I thought I would use AI to get some more information. There were only 66 Skyfox CA25N Gazelles ever made, 61 were sold in Australia and the other 5 overseas. This does NOT include any that were made after 1996 which was apparently when the factory was closed and reopened under new ownership. The new owners apparently built 3 with 1 being sold and the other 2 being used for parts because they could get more money for them than selling them new. most of this information came from Wikipedia and the Queensland air Museum according to Chat GPT. Interestingly they were about 3 times more X-Air aircraft sold in Australia, probably because they were cheaper and could be kit built ?1 point

might have to talk to the hangar landlord, might be able to squeeze a gazelle in with the wings folded. getting cold feet about parting with the xair.1 point

Small correction It's not CERTIFIED as LSA It's ACCEPTED as LSA Big difference in a single word, you are not selling a CERTIFIED aircraft. The grammar nazi's will be on-to-you1 point

Seems to me that debate, should be conducted in the main Forum this section is for people who wish to purchase/sell😈1 point

Nev, a tailwheel fork or arm is not really a critical structural steel part. But yes, plating can produce hydrogen embrittlement - however, it's primarily high strength, low alloy steels, that are affected by the hydrogen generated by the plating process. Hexavalent chromium is a bigger threat to your health and lifespan!1 point

You can't properly check Roller bearings without looking at the components They can be starting to PIT without PLAY being evident. They FAIL by surface fatigue rather than wear. Cages can also fail. Nev1 point

If you can also clarify useable weight and MTOW so we can work out if we need to lose 25Kg's as well. (LOL)1 point

Yes don, and it was a nice one too. I put the ad up for someone else . He wants to set up a small auf type training school. Great idea if it happens. The xairs are great but not certified.1 point

I am so envious. A Corby Starlet and a great wife. I am now 11 years retired. 10 years ago she forced me to sell my Mooney (she refused to go anywhere in it) She hassles me whenever I go near work on my aircraft building. I would love your Starlet but she is so against me even looking at it. I hate retirement, tried to get a job but no company has ever replied to my application let alone a job.0 points
