red750 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Jetstar has two new Airbus A320 simulators, worth $20 mill each. The other item reported was that they have also developed a virtual reality training system, using virtual reality headsets, for maintenance staff, so they don't have to travel to Brisbane for training and procedure checks. Apparently NASA are so impressed they have asked if they can use them. The company built a virtual model of Boeing 787 and Airbus 320 aircraft and made programs where maintenance staff could conduct training sessions on these aircraft models via VR. Using VR has enabled company training to be conducted remotely and without the need for a physical aircraft. Jetstar has found that using VR has resulted in operational efficiencies in the VR training sessions only require about 30 minutes compared to 3 to 3.5 hours for training sessions in the real world, and as such has decided to increase the size of the program. 1 3
pmccarthy Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Hope they don’t do virtual repairs on real aircraft. 4
facthunter Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Good sign of the right approach. Spending Money on training. Nev 2
onetrack Posted November 23 Posted November 23 A lot of people learn quickly and easily from images, rather than text. The U.S. military found that cartoon-style instructions were very effective training aids, during WW2, and right up to the video age. Youtube explanatory videos are often very good, although a lot are a bit amateurish. 1 1
facthunter Posted November 23 Posted November 23 It is said, " A picture is worth a thousand words" especially to those with a Photographic Memory. Nev 1
rgmwa Posted November 24 Posted November 24 A photographic memory would be great. Someone forgot to load the film in mine. 3
facthunter Posted Monday at 11:38 PM Posted Monday at 11:38 PM Learning is a complex process. If something is not consolidated, it's not going to Last Long. ROTE learning is one of the Least effective methods.. A schematic of say, a fuel system is better than a Book of words describing it . One where you can Move virtual levers and see where the fuel flows is even better. Same with Hydraulic systems and electrical circuits. . Nev 1
