Do Jabirus, or any Raaus aircraft have a MEL? Minimum equipment list? basically a list of what can be U/S and the aircraft still serviceable to fly..

There are not many light twins around that can maintain altitude on one engine, especially when loaded with Max fuel for a trip to QLD and cargo.Going to be interesting to see why he couldn't maintain on one engine after the other apparently failed. -
i was just reading the stats on the Hornet STOl, i recon the Savannah will be the same if not better STOL aircraft. well the Savvy will land shorter. ive managed to get my landing down to about 100 mtrs.

yes, fingernails taste yummy!so i was free to relax and enjoy the last hour of the day building my confidence and watching my poor instructor waiting patiently for me on the ground each touch and go.RachHi jenn, Hope you are well, great to hear your getting back into it! Bill builds a Great aircraft, also good to see all of his savvies in this months magazine!
In the near future we will come back up and say hi!

both carbies on the 912 are fed from a single airbox, so its only 1 airfilter, and the carby heat is only a single tube running from the exhaust to the airbox.

Iphone 4, three-axis gyroscope for measuring angular velocity. It can figure out pitch, roll, and yaw; and rotation about gravity. The gyroscope plus the accelerometer provide six-axis motion sensing, and remember it also has a built in compass and 12 channel GPS. Lo and behold - it can even make phone calls!!

Dont worry, there will be plenty of photos, especially now with 10 cm of fresh snow all the way to Adaminaby,
We have accommodation booked at Khancoban, and will base our flying out of there for Saturday before heading back to the coast that afternoon.
we will be flying there friday.
If time and fuel permits i might head over to Hotham to have a look before turning back for the NSW resorts.

Sydney basin as a few airports, the biggest is obviously Sydney Kingsford Smith in Syd itself, but this is airline traffic only.
Bankstown airport once was the busiest in the southern hemisphere, but still remains Sydney's busiest GA airport, Plenty of hangerage there, but can be expensive, upwards of $500 a month.
Other airports are Camden, Wedderburn and The Oaks.
Wederburn is a private airport, and quite expensive to get into, but not to bad once you pay the first year fee.
Camden is owned by the same company that owns Bankstown, and hence, just as expensive.
The Oaks is a small grass private airfield, and has a few great clubs and schools there, but no hangarage as yet.
Richmond to the north west of the Sydney basin is a Military airfield.
There are a few other aiports near Sydney, to the north is Somersby, (private owned) and Warnervale. about 2 hr drive north there is Cessnock and Maitland airfields.
to the South you have Wollongong, where im based, about 45 mind south, and south west about 1 hr drive from syd is Goulburn airport, Plenty of hangarage there.
As for Sydney itself, not much crime really, except the usual drunken inner city crime.
Camden is a nice place to live, but a fair distance from the CBD.
Most coastal areas of the city are very expensive places to live.
Sadly public transport is woeful, but liveable if your close enough to a rail corridor.

Thanks for all you help, especially Bidgee and Paul.
The plan so far is depart Wollongong, visit Polo Flat, then fly over the main range for overnight stay at Khancoban. We rang Andrew at Queens cottages and we are booked, we have permission from SHA to use the strip, very easy.
The next day i want to overfly the main range again, from Kosciuszko, perisher and other resorts. then tour the lakes then back to Jundabyne, before heading home via Adaminaby.
by the sounds of things, they would greatly appreciate a few more fly-in visitors.
Hopefully the forecast 15 cm of snow will fall Wednesday and thurs, before the big High arrives over the are for the weekend, so we should get calm weather, clear skies, and white mountains! morning frosts forecast, but the rotax loves the cold weather and has no starting issues.
I plan on overflying some of the strips i previously mentioned, but wont land at any until im more comfortable with mountain flying and begging permission to use said strips..
Thanks again for the info, its much appreciated and highlight the great resource we all have here...
Rob.

not much has changed with the changeover to class D, still no requirements for transponder, still require PPL, schools withing a new Class D can still operate as usual. just still conduct solo ops at a CTAF, only real change is the Camden tower hours.

try driving a 68 Beetle through Sydney in peak hour with a snapped clutch cable!! :peepwall:

thanks for that Nev, plan so far is to head to Jindabyne or Adaminaby for an overnight stop, then spend the next day exploring the region, checking out Cabramurra, Khancoban, and Hotham, then overnight back at Jindy or Adaminaby before heading home the third day.
i would really love to be able to stop in at the strip at Guthega Pondage, i have camped there before, and it has to be the highest strip in Oz? very close to the perisher ski resorts,
When i was camping there the strip is in good condition, just with a few tuffs of longer grass scattered over it.
Can the old SMA and guthega strips still be used with permission? are the under the control of the Koscuisczo national park? os still the SMA?
I plan on dropping into Polo flat to say Hi!
