  1. We are talking of 2 different procedures. Bruces Protocol is the stress ECG type used in Aviation Medicals TOO often and not good with older people. 7 stents is way above the normal number. Angiograms inject a dye that show arterial restrictions and has some risks associated with it. Stents are often inserted at the same time as it's convenient to do it then. You have to cut an artery to get in there. Nev
  2. I was Particularly referring to the Inadequacy of the Often recommended Stress ECG in predicting Cardiac events. Many of these events DO give warnings. Nev
  3. The Stress ECG 3 months before the Incapacitation was no Predictor of the Heart attack and never is IMHO.. There's plenty of evidence of Pilots dying of a heart attack not long after doing the Test. Nev
  4. If you've had an inspection and FOUND NOTHING Its's NOT a very satisfactory position to be in, with the ONE control you cannot do without. HE Knew it wasn't right the day before.. I'm suggesting this to be the case. as I cant see him ignoring IF a fix had been done. (Not JUST an inspection.).Plenty of failures are intermittent.. Plenty only show up when it's cold after flight at High altitude.. (as an example). When you have High time on a Plane you get to Know a lot about them. I had the elevators Jamb and landed on stab trim. I've also had stab trim jamb but at a different time and caused by Incorrect Grease on the stab trim Jack screw FREEZING.. Something we knew More about. Nev
  5. It's pretty $#!t Form. Not very professional or ethical. That's why He's an Ex friend.. Would he have made a PA informing the PAX and Flight attendants that He was flying a plane another pilot had just refused. Would the Safety Authority Approve that if it was brought to their attention? Nev
  6. An EX-friend of mine volunteered to fly a Plane (Commercial Airliner) that another Pilot had just refused. . Nev
  7. I should have said Light aircraft and also U/L's have a limited required (slow) stall speed which helps reduce risk. Nev
  8. Most planes don't glide as fast as WW2 Fighters Must to maintain control. Nev
  9. Spitfires are not that "Thick on the Ground". . You wouldn't want an "OFF Field" landing in a built up area. or rough terrain. Nev
  10. It was a Hot day at Newcastle and that is not far away but without Power the outcome is never going to be good and you have NO HOPE of doing a turn from that low Height. IF you are stalled you have NO control. Very SAD outcome for sure. Nev
  11. The only incidences that I'm aware of is when Avtur has been inadvertently mixed with avgas making the Octane rating so low that the engines have destroyed themselves during the take-off. Preignition and detonation can co exist. Either are a rapid heat generating Phenomenon and impose shockloads on the engine. The only way of limiting damage is to reduce the Power dramatically or shut the engine down. IN Normal operations, adhering to the Proper fuel and running stipulated Power(Boost/RPM settings, correct Plugs and Limit head temps you are OK. A motor that is burning a lot of OIL is also suss as the normal Lube oils reduce the Octane rating, considerably if they are in the Combustion process. Nev
  12. Stainless is more prone to cracking. A shorter exhaust might get more heat to it. Nev
  13. Seems like a hard Life. Who's the Boss Walla with her hands on Hips? Nev
  14. WE don't have details of what height he was at . It's always important to be able to reach your chosen field and to ensure it happens aim to be a bit high with your Planned touchdown well in, to be safe. Try to be into wind and flap extended to reduce energy. Lower ground speed.
  15. They DID wait a while. Some people are terrified of flying. One time when I had to return and dump Fuel I made a long PA explaining it and when the Hostie came Up I said "Are the Passengers OK?" And she said They're OK but we are worried about it as you went to a lot of trouble. IS it REALLY OK? Nev
