  1. Marty..you can look forward to days like this 🙂 Savannah drivers are a great group
  2. I THINK YOU WILL FIND THE STARATUS 3 IS ADSB IN ONLY IT DOES NOT TRANSMIT oops sorry abt the caps
  3. I have a 20 litre clean plastic drum with a tap. I fill that drum with my fuel on the ground via a Mr Funnel so i know the fuel in there is super clean. then i lift the drum on top of the wing and the tap sits directly over the tank hole..then I just turn on the tap. I am thinking though of some sort of pump. They have some fuel type ones now that are like a stick and you drop it into a drum..but you really still need to decant it via the Mr funnel. mogas and a pump is coming to our airfield soon so that will make life easier
  4. To get a fully TSO'd ADSB in and out system for $4035 after the rebate is pretty damn fine in my books. Even my mrs is impressed 🙂
  5. I am the builder so its no issue with installation I sign off the Installer documents..its all cool. Different matter of course on a non experimental
  6. I put my rebate claim in on the 23rd of Nov....today recieved $4035 dollars back from the rebate program so only about 4 weeks from lodgement. Pretty great stuff.
  7. I think its a similar price in Childers near my farm too Will let you know soon I have to get a truck in
  8. 30 years in the radio business gives me some good reliable experience and data. I didnt say there would not be any reduction form time to time in signal recepton and transmission but in the scheme of things the path loss is not that dramatic and usually only for a very short time. The transponder I bought is a TailbeaconX..that has 2 antennas built in. I would expect some shading but at 250 watts I will still get plenty of warning on TX and RX that I am totally comfortable with it. ADSB in my opinion is far better than Mode C as I dont need to have a radar hit to ping me. The ADSB is far more open system and this is why it is being adopted worldwide
  9. ARO the update rate for ADSB is literally millisec....why the direct tartget is appearing behind the sim card based target I have no idea at all. The direct target is the one I would believe for real time. Also even with some blocking any aircraft with a external transponder antenna will give you at least 10 to 20nm direct hits. The SE2 works from 10 to 40nm and seems to do reliably with just a pcb etched antenna. A external antenn fitted to to the SE2 I have performed tests on 2 aircraft now with external antennas fitted and saw up to 180km for the SE2 on detection of other aircraft to aircraft hits
  10. I asked a question about slab walls on here and literally 30 mins later up on my facebook feed comes this https://riseproducts.com/ It makes you wonder doesnt it about how in depth the monitoring of what we say and look at is monitored I havent seen this stuff before at all. I have to say its a pretty neat idea but dont know the costs
  11. ARO there are 2 types of ways the info comes in for ADSB in..one via your ipad trough one of the nav programs is via your sim card via the internet..yes that has lag that is not fixed. The real advantage of true ADSB in and out of the aircraft is realime millisec data refresh direct between all aircraft in the respective eqyuipments range that yo have in your aircraft. That realtime is sent to your Ipad and is usually a different colour target. The sim card targets are blue the direct targets are red
  12. Hangars are bloody expensive now. The tilt slab construction walls etc with a steel roof type of light idustrial building construction now...is that cheaper than th traditional style of hangar build?. I havent kept up with the slab style stuff but I did get a couple of quotes for normal stle hangars and they are way expensive now with the steel prices
  13. The SE2 just has a super accurate GPS in it The TailbeaconX and AV-30C I just got the TailbeaconX itself has that same gPS in it but the AV-30C has the calibrated preassure sensor so it is TSO compliant. You need both together or some other Pressure encoder to complete the TSO package
  14. Yes I have just done the same crap with the Director iD...wait until you have a EPOA for your parents and manage MyGov and centrelink and my aged care for them as well as all your own govt bullsh*t
  15. I bought my SE2 before the date allowed for the rebate 😞 .... but I just bought the ADSB setup for my RANS S-21 as I have a rego for it within RAA. I bought the TailbeaconX but the only version available now is the TSO version. The problem with this is you need a TSO barometric source. My MGL is not certifed for that as it is for experimental use and not TSO. So I needed a TSO source. uAvionix has a bundle deal going at the moment with their AV30-C which does have the TSO source in it and it does a stack more stuff as well. So i bit the bullet and ordered both. just over 8k but should get $4035 back from the rebate...well this is what the rebate paperwork told me when I lodged it earlier today. So will see what happens with this and if I do get back the 50%..I hope so 🙂 because I was willing to spend the 4.5k without the rebate https://www.uavionix.com.au/tailbeaconx-tso-av-30-c-bundle/
  16. Do you know the owner/pilot Mike? Engine failure or "other"
  17. I think I may have found why I thought UHF in the 400mhz band..I was told many years ago about it by a mate who was doing a lot of gliding back then and there was a early version in 2009 at least for OZFLARM and MINIOZ it was based on FLARM but a different frequency and it must have just transitioned to the usual FLARM parameters
  18. Thanks for that great info..so that confirms the RF chip can do the range but its the modulation technique that is the issue. Interesting that the UK is the odd man out now for this. I am not sure but wasnt FLARM first developed here but on a much lower UHF frequency?
  19. " As for the frequency/SkyEcho, FLARM uses the 'ISM' band (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISM_radio_band), which is a general-purpose unlicensed radio band allocated by the ITU, unfortunately the ITU allocated a different frequency range in AU/US to Europe. uAvionix will have to explain whether it's a legal issue or a hardware issue as to why the SkyEcho can't receive the ISM band in Australia (915Mhz). If that could be solved it would be great." It would be a hardware issue maybe thats why as soon as you select australia it will turn off the FLARM in the SE2 868mhz is not that far away from 915 but the antenna on the internal PCB is made for 868 so it would have a big mismatch The RF chip nowdays will do the full frequency range but it would be the microstrip antenna Most likely a new antenna and it would work fine but Australia is a small market so it would require different hardware version
  20. Thruster if you have a SE2 then it comes up directly on the screen with the mobile data ones. Ozrunways only has mobile ADSB but it does show other Ozrunways users but again all via mobile data. Avplan does SE2 ADSB directly in its base VFR plan where OZrunways you have to buy the "Premiun" plan
  21. Avplan has the ADSB as standard in their standard package
  22. just a report of a accident on the local news in brisbane two died i believe
  23. Hi Bob. thats the std setup but I cant see the throttle connecting rod. So i dont know. To my knowledge there are no other twin stick amateur built XL here in OZ except the Girlfriend and she had the twin operating rods. Mabel has twin sticks but a centre throttle this time though and again I have never seen a centre throttle version Sav here at all
  24. Anyone on here who knows the aircraft that was the subject of this report for the 18th sept. https://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/occurrence-briefs/2022/aviation/engine-malfunction-amateur-built-savannah-xl15-km-great-keppel-island-queensland-18-september-2022?fbclid=IwAR3PqqRTkiIMSHIaLvo9EXVN9m9yQH1pfwm6869qoIbLhFnJ0uDOlGZnqOs Good job whoever the pilot was...good thinking
  25. I have seen the video from the cameras on the field...I agree to what you said Forsythem1972
