Thanks for the info guys...maybe that's why he chooses to start off in the drifter, because the 120 is a lot easer to fly....

Organizations such as "Angel Flight" /www.angelflight.org.au/ might be something that would boost RAA to the public...not sure if it's possible for an Raa-ite to do, but it is a great way to promote flying in general...The only way the Recreational Aircraft movement is going to get good pulblicity is to make it themselves. The likes of making the annual fly in at Narromine a charity fund raising event. There's all sorts of commercial operators gaining from it why not make money for charity? -
Pretty cool Brett...
Better get to bed now I guesssssssszzzzzz...Just joking:cool:

Here's a Jab for sale in the Classifieds section, doesn't look to bad for the price...FS JABIRU LSA55 - Recreational Flying

Yep team work mate...;)how much commission you guys on? talk about the quick sell -

Actually if it was me, I'd prefer to fly it away...or the J120 at 58k ish drive away?

I don't think I'd go to all the trouble of getting a road worthy myself...

Here's another to drool over....Ultralight SkyDart2s - Australia's value Ultralight Aircraft
With the 912 rotax they reckon cruise is 105knts, not bad at all for the two seater. and you can even hang a hammock from the wing by the looks of it...that's cool

That's what i'm concerned about, the drifter is cheaper to start with, but when I do the change over i may be just as bad off...but never mind I will be flying an airplane and thats what it's all about. the Jabiru that I would change up to is the J120, but it's most likely got the same feeling as the 160.When I stepped into a 160 I had to almost relearn to fly again. It took me 5 hours to get an endorsement on a 160 and get used to the landing attutude etc etc.Anyway I'll soon find out when I start with everything, and that's after the long weekend...:thumb_up:

That's cool:thumb_up:

Out on the Plains where I am, it basically boils down to which neighbour you'd like to visit...It's a great place when it comes to engines stopping on you I would imagine, farm roads, empty padocks, the only thing that you got to really whatch is the network of cobwebs...(meaning power lines):big_grin:I suppose the thing to realise is that when the engine fails that the aeroplane does not fall out of the sky. -
-
The faster the landing in the water the better probably...that way it would rip the engines off while it still has enough momentum to keep itself from tipping forward...:raise_eyebrow: It wouldn't take a great deal of restriction to rip the engines off i don't think, 'cause there only held on by four bolts;)

Just had a brain wave...you know those suction handles that window/class people use, they'd be strong and easy to attached/detach, and you could just attached you camera on it somehow pretty easily i'd have to imagine...not sure where you'd get em from though...

Expect it to happen...that way your always prepared for when it does...;)I always dread it in the back of my mind.might sound silly coming from me who has done very little flying as yet, but I know it works for other things...besides that's all part of your flight planning isn't it...

That probably was the best forced landing training the student ever got...Oh and the student came back next week. -
My uncle has a lot to do with that...:thumb_up:My dad uses some system to track his trucks up and down the NSW coast which he can watch live online. -
Well I've been thinking about all that to alot lately also, I've done alot of experimenting with Hydrogen and water in combustion engines. But it just isn't practical yet, and the same with the ethanol to I think...
Bio diesels seem to be working pretty well, maybe we need to look at that, Diesel engines, wouldn't that be good:thumb_up:
But what we really need to do is start with a clean sheet of paper, rather than trying to modify engines that run well on what it was designed to run on.
Electric seems to be the way of the future, but I think there's more in this world than that...what about the stuff we live in? Air...compressed air. check out this fella's compressed air engine, www.engineair.com.au ... Right this engine may not work, but the idea is there...worth a think about anyway...
Just my 2cents worth...

Yep the Zig Zag was great when I went on it earlier last year, just got to remember the steam engine only goes on certain days, all other times is the diesel train...Just can't think of much right now. But a day up the Blue mountains, would be very worth while. Mostly for the scenery. 3 sisters, Sky car, Zig Zag railway, etc. -
That's great to hear... I will chat to the instructor about it, I just wondered if it was a possibility before I bothered him....:big_grin:I believe it's OK to land at another strip within the 25nm. What the rule is saying is that you can't then make that strip the starting point for a new 25nm flight, unless it remains 25nm from the original departure point. ie - the home field is always the centre of the 25nm area you can fly in.I reckon it's a great idea at that stage of training to fly to a nearby field and land. You get the learning of approaching and landing on a new field, without the added burden of a navigation exercise to get there.I certainly did it.
Thanks a lot guys,
-
So that basically means I wouldn't be able to fly home and then back again without a x-country endorsement?

-
Oh right...so the 25nm is pretty much the circuit length then?
-
When you get your certificate, your limited to the 25nm radius right...well can you land within that radius? or do you have to land at the departure point...

It probably has all the do's and don'ts in the book I haven't got yet, but I was just interested, because our neighbour has a strip a few hundred mtrs from our back fence. And it would be kinda cool to be able to fly and land there once I'm certified and before I was x-country endorsed... I'm 40klm from the flight school, so that's within the 25nm radius.
Thanks in advance:thumb_up:
