  1. Last weekend just replaced my 1mm alloy one with a 0.016 s/s one. Removed all the unnecessary holes, grommets in all the others, tightly sealed. I'm a little more confident in the fire resistance now. HITC, liking your build. It's giving me assurance that a the improvement I'm doing to the Bushbaby is on the right path to making it sturdier.
  2. My Great Wall is at 134,000km. Unloved and still goes good, actually getting better fuel economy now. Rattles yes, lights on dash that shouldn't be yes. But runs great. Even got a nice set of Broncos number plates.
  3. I think I used to pay $90hr back in the 1990's for lessons in a Thruster, wages were around $220 before tax. Our local school Sportstar has been $240hr dual, and $140hr wet hire with user pays landing fees. Compared to owning an aircraft this comes up good. My own "cheap" purchased aircraft has been laid up 3 years being made sound enough to hop back in and use. Finally nearly there but a lot of time and money has been put in.
  4. I doubt that tow line would have broken if he caught it. It would have been a hell of a shock. The still picture shows there would have of been less than half a metre clearance.
  5. Maybe we should vote Australia Post out. June turned up on 1st of July, July not here yet. I use a PO box and am next to a rural city and still can't get things on time ie bills, mags. Order something from the US and its here in a week even through customs. Go figure?
  6. Nothing like when a plan comes together
  7. I have the timber and plans to start a ragwing special that size with the option of 2 seater in a stretch version. It is quite a feat to have a model one that size.
  8. Hi Haydn, welcome and Hi. Back when I was 17 I used to fly at Cranbourne in a jacket during summer. I don't miss the cold. I like flying in shorts and tee, more comfortable. Cheers Clint
  9. Hi Francois, Welcome, my Bushbaby came from over your way, it relocated around 2006. I have the "training wheel" and the 582. Cheers Clint
  10. Congrats and enjoy the journey. Cheers Clint
  11. Raaus mailing out from office. They had a few astray this month.
  12. Just curious about whereabouts of June issue. Did other people recieve theirs and when, like early in the month or late. Australia post seems to be getting slower.
  13. Even simple items like horse floats I see all the time are poorly constructed from light materials and axles that snap clean like made off ice. People keep buying them to save money in initial purchase, only to find them unrepairable or expensive to rectify.
  14. Some of us have less than 6 fingers round these here parts
  15. Good outcome to walk away with only a dinged machine.
  16. does anyone know what happened this afternoon near tamworth.
  17. First time as a student was in a Thruster T500, after my short break of 19 years it was a 2004 Sportstar then, like a Ferrari by comparison.
  18. But what a beaut ute it is.
  19. This plane stuff is tricky. You have to think 5 steps ahead, what happens if I do this?, if it breaks what happens? I am putting a trim tab in a plane that did not have one to start with and its already been back to the think tank a few times. I like that all the thinking is being done by someone else on this one.
  20. do you mean you were just winging it
  21. Hi, got sorted.the local info centre picked up for me and posted. Cheers Clintonb
  22. Hi, do any members live near Maryborough that would be able to pack and post a small lot from the John fisher auction for me. I would be happy to pay for their services and costs. Got a scary quote from the company recommended by auction house. PM me if you can help. Cheers Clinton B
  23. I agree. Would want reversible prop pitch to not run away. Specs are great if you want to get somewhere fast but that valley strip looks like a supercub would be more at home.
  24. Welcome Jimbojim.
