  1. This raptor researcher in the Outback of W.A. has fitted trackers to wedgetail eagles, and has recorded them going to 21,300 feet!! One would ask why, and as the researcher says, "because they can, and because they obviously enjoy soaring". Biologist discovers wedge-tailed eagles fly more than six kilometres off the ground - ABC News WWW.ABC.NET.AU A biologist has discovered wedge-tailed eagles in Western Australia's outback are flying at extraordinary heights.
  2. Attempting to set land use conditions on a parcel of land, long after you sold it (or donated it), is not something I would expect to be enforceable, unless there was a substantial and comprehensive binding agreement put in place as part of the sale/donation agreement, and signed by all parties involved.
  3. Moneybox, isn't the free version of Fusion only good for 3 years?
  4. ........a talking prawn!! I can't believe my luck!! This is my life-changing moment! I'm going to save this little fella from being eaten, run away from this rotten prawn-trawler skippering job - join a circus, dress this little fella in a suit, sit him on my knee, and let him talk and talk!! I can advertise as "Come and see bull and the Talking Politician Prawn!" - as prawns are mostly full of sh**, the same as politicians - and they wear suits, too, so people will love the analogy - and being able to actually ask him questions, and get mostly BS replies (same as a politician), the crowds will love it, and I'll make a million overnight, in the easiest way possible!! However, the prawn had listened to all this planning, and he had different ideas. He wasn't about to.........
  5. I just hate it when you have a breakdown, and you have to call in a tilt tray! 😄
  6. The pilot has been confirmed as deceased and his body was recovered from the wreckage at around 2:00PM yesterday. The media report below indicates the "distress signal" was from an ELB. https://www.ulladullatimes.com.au/story/9069975/body-recovered-after-plane-crash-in-national-park/
  7. The "distress signal" mentioned in media reports may not have been a radio message, it may have been a signal from an ELB being activated.
  8. Whoops. A bit more work required on the anti-collision/avoidance systems, by the looks of it!
  9. Further news items state the pilot was on a flying training exercise, and had flown into Victoria, before returning into NSW. The news items also states that a distress message was sent just prior to the aircrafts disappearance. Lost in IMC over the Budawang National Park, perhaps? The photo supplied with the news article at bottom, shows an aircraft totally destroyed. https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/light-plane-crashes-in-southern-nsw-on-return-to-sydney-20250918-p5mw8w.html https://www.9news.com.au/national/search-to-resume-for-missing-pilot-after-nsw-light-plane-crash/690b45ca-41bc-48cf-8771-82626dc560b6
  10. The crash location is actually in inaccessible terrain inside Budawang National Park. A search chopper has sighted the wreckage, but the pilot has not been sighted or found. The crash site is inaccessible on foot, and inaccessible to ground vehicles. The search was suspended last night and resumed this morning, largely due to poor weather. Grave fears are held for the pilot. Radar tracking shows the aircraft descended from 8250 feet to 2000 feet over a 25 minute period, and then disappeared off radar screens. Inexplicably, the Cirrus SR20 (which belongs to a Bankstown Flying School) is reportedly equipped with a ballistic parachute, which should have reduced any crash severity. https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/grave-fears-held-for-nsw-man-after-light-plane-crash/news-story/83b305fc54a712b1cdfaa1990b21c01e
  11. I was perusing FB Marketplace, and this item came up in my Marketplace feed. A Lancair 360 kit, not completed and seemingly with no engine, as none is shown. For sale on behalf of a non-FB user. They're looking for $30,000 for it. I thought someone on here may be interested in it. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1988030321977739

  14. What kind of petrol contamination in remote areas would you be concerned about, RFguy? Water and dirt from the tanks are generally stopped by the filters in the bowser pumps. However, the bowser filters can still pump emulsified water, so it's a good idea to avoid filling from servo tanks, where you see the refuelling tanker refilling them, and stirring up sediment and water. Incidentally, it's well known that all tanks retain some water and sediment in the bottom - as a result the pump spears are always a defined distance from the tank bottom (150mm), and the bowser pumps can never pump the tank completely empty. Microbial contamination kits are available for the kerosene-based and diesel fuels, but I don't ever recall microbial contamination being a problem with petrol-based products. Not to say it can't happen, it just that I think it would be extremely rare. https://fueltest.com.au/
  15. Bluetooth probably not as silly as it sounds - you can already get Bluetooth trailer/towing lights for something you want to tow, that has no lights, or non-operational lights.
  16. ......who ordered in another 50 sets of short-skirt nurses uniforms, to replace the standard nursing long pants. Clarry was looking forward to another night of entertainment with high hopes of all the nurses changing into the short skirts - but he was horrified at the shift change to see Ted the gay male nurse walk up to his bed, and say...............
  17. Marty, make sure you run the engine until the oil temperature is at normal operating range, where condensation is vapourised and removed from the engine internals. A huge amount of water is produced in the first few minutes of engine operation, and if any stays in the engine on shutdown, it will cause corrosion on any exposed steel components, after a further period of sitting around. One trick I learnt from some Americans is to leave a 100w incandescent globe lit up, under an engine sump, when an engine is left standing. The heat from the globe generates enough warmth to keep condensation at bay, especially where large temperature variations between night and day are experienced. This trick also works for keeping condensation off steel tools in cupboards and toolboxes.
  18. .......the defacto President of that State, one Luigi Alfonso Aloysius "Turbo" Turbine, effectively ran the State as a personal business monopoly - despite the official Govt Premier and Ministers thinking they were running the State. No State decision of any kind could be approved without it going past Turbo for approval - or refusal. When a major Govt decision was overturned, it was because it didn't meet Turbo's aim of getting 10% of the cut of the monies involved. But the refusal was always couched in subtle terms, such as "the project failed to reach the viability objectives", amongst other obtuse and seemingly political reasons. Turbo's defacto reign over the State decision-making, led to many would-be small-time dictators trying to emulate Turbo's success, which then led to............
  19. ......when Cappy was ejected from the Club Aficionado, for bring good Cuban cigars into disrepute, by casually smoking one out of the boot of a car. Note that Cappy was absolutely dismayed when he received this news - because as everyone knows, Cuban cigars are rolled on the inner thighs of 17 yr old Cuban virgins, and this fact alone was a huge drawcard for Cappy, as he fondly remembered............. (Dear NES readers, the following video is definitely not a video of Cappy smoking a Bolivar Belicoso Fino, but it does show a couple of very refined members of Club Aficionado showing Cappy how Cuban cigar smoking should be done.......) https://www.cigaraficionado.com/top25cigar/bolivar-belicoso-fino-2017
  20. Canola loses its bright yellow flowers within a month or five weeks, as the plant sets seed, and the paddock then turns to a plain dark green as it forms pods, then it turns to a dull yellow as the pods ripen. Canola produces a lot more flowers than it sets as seed, it seems this is the plants way of dealing with heat, heavy rain, insect attack, or other stressors.
  21. My apologies, I have made an error, the Greenfields Flyers correct name is the Greenside Recreational Flyers Club.

  23. There's also the Greenfields airstrip at Muchea, on the North side of Perth city. It's essentially the same distance as Serpentine from the Perth CBD. The Greenfields airstrip has superb access with two of W.A.'s finest highways leading to it, and from it (Brand Hwy and Tonkin Hwy) - but it is restricted mid-week by the RAAF Pearce restricted airspace zone, R155. The RAAF use that area for military aircraft training, including low-level flights. The airstrip is operated by the Greenfields Recreational Flyers Club, and they don't charge any landing fees. However, they only operate on weekends and public holidays. https://www.grfc.asn.au/
  24. .........dear Cappy, No, it appears your translation is exceptionally bad - Turbs actually said, you look good in a leotard - and he also said, you're very slow on genuflucting with those Asians girls in Tahiti. However, I know that can't be correct, because we all know your family has always had its primary tendencies towards the Wahines, and as such...........
  25. The fear is real, if you get into Clive Palmers legal sights. He specialises in the worst kind of legal abuse, threatening to sue you, then "settling out of court". 😞
