  1. These quick fill containers are also real handy ,just upend it , don't spill a drop and stops running when your tank is nearly full , cost $70 at motorcycle shops
  2. We use 12 volt pumps only for diesel on farm , pretty sure you can't pump petrol with them, one stray spark and you may be trying out your insurance , we have a underground 1000 liter tank for petrol that we charge with compressed air, not sure whether it introduces moisture in the tank so have a water trap type glass filter in the line , seems to work OK , been using it for about 4 years
  3. Sorry andy, can't remember will take note next time
  4. I can slow it down and it rocks the wings slower ,to much gain and we are out of control, tried every setting, every flight seems different , sometimes it disconnects and slowly banks to the left have to turn it off and start again. I need to take a experienced pilot for a spin for another opinion, unsure what to do next. soon as I get a chance I will switch off the 296 and hope that makes a difference. Thanks for all the help
  5. I did not know that turning off the GPS the AP would still work , that will be first on the list , I can get it sometimes to barely move other times have to turn the the thing off , had a tru track before this one, done the same thing , so maybe it is the gps
  6. Having trouble with my trio avionics AP not holding a straight course , wants to hunt , the linkages are all tight, wondering if it could be the 296 garmin not good enough. , tried all the settings
  7. If anybody interested I have a dynamic prop balancer for hire , I am situated in northern Vic
  8. Has anyone received the mag for July or does it start in August
  9. Looked at CO2 and it seems like the units are to big
  10. I did wonder about the powder inside the cabin, it's got a trigger so the whole lot doesn't empty at once, I may have to think of a better holding down system.
  11. The one I use cost $26 from supercheap , comes with a plastic holder which I riveted below my control stick but also added extra duct tape to hold it in place , wouldn't want it rolling around under the rudder pedals. The 914 fuel set up in my plane uses 2 electric pumps plumbed together but are powered separately inside the cabin behind the instrument panel, I've always been worried about a fire behind the panel and petrol feeding the fire
  12. I have always carried a small , half kilo, fire extinguisher within easy reach with me just in case . After reading the nightmare that Geoff went through I found out the thing was 3 years out of date and didn't work at all. Does everyone else carry one?
  13. Could anyone tell me what flying into Caloundra is like, I heard parking is restricted I was planning on staying 4 or 5 days.
  14. I guess you have to head back inland before Gold Coast CTR at Heck field , tiger country doesn't worry me to much , but is there any military restricted zones between Heck Field and Warwick , What height do I come down the coast at and which frequency should I listen to .
  15. should I worry about the note that says HIGH SPEED LOW LEVEL MILITARY JETS OPERATING RANDOM ROUTES. sorry for all the dumb questions
  16. So can I fly Dazza's route back down the coast without ATC clearance
  17. Just a lowly RAA cert no ppl
  18. The flight plan sounds good, the whole area looks like its full of restricted air space , Dalby then Caloundra direct cuts through some
  19. unsure about ATC clearance
  20. thanks all, I have printed everything so I have some study to do . hoping it won't be to hard all new country for me
  21. This looks like a easy trip and maybe come back down the coast, how far off the coast do I need to be
  22. Could any one give me some clues on how to go to Caloundra from Dubbo , looks like a nightmare trying to transit west of Brisbane , should I track further north then cut back to the coast , don't want to get mown down by a military jet, any help would be great
  23. Point taken , I thought most had separate switches. I rang Floods to ask how they primed the filter and as you said they can't be filled so they crank it over on the started , ignition off or grounded , till they see some oil pressure , didn't think hand cranking would ever fill the filter. I didn't ask if they, as engineers, had ever read the Rotax manual ,
  24. I never said to pull the plug leads off with the ignition still on , sorry if that was not clear.
  25. thanks for all the reply's, lots to consider
