    We all complain about being regulated, or living in 'nanny states' etc. however, we continually prove that we need regulation and big brother watching because we behave like imbeciles otherwise. We cannot handle booz, road rules, drugs and a million other things. Imagine if there was no CASA or RAAus. Good God, pilots would be killing themselves and others through their own stupidity, ignorance and crap attitudes. (I use the term 'we' at the beginning of my rant, those of us who do the right thing please feel excluded)

    All those current affairs programs are crap. One program once blamed Ham Radio Operators for a fake mayday call that cost tens of thousands of dollars. Why Ham Radio? - he (shame shame shame) could never explain. Dickheads on 27Mhz CB were the culprits. (I might add that Ham radio is now so dumbed down it is basically just CB but that's another story.) Also, same guy ran a story about a fellow who sold his mates caravan and pocketed the money. The program forgot to mention the caravan was abandoned on the fellows property and was sold after five years of trying to find his mate and get him to remove it. Do yourselves a favour, watch Southpark - it's closer to reality than any current affairs program.

    You'll find many pilots here that are (were) into motorbikes and racing cars etc. Just remember the journey towards a pilot licence involves a lot of study so be prepared to allocate a time and place where you can be alone and undisturbed for a few hours a week. Even if that means taking your books etc. to the library. Having said that, the study comes after a few lessons in the air where you can determine if it is in fact something you can do. As you reach various milestones (first solo, first nav, first engine failure etc.) you will be required to shout a beer for all the current forum members. Good luck in your adventures.

    From what I understand the incidents of people flying with false passports is very high and it is common to find passengers on many flights doing just that.

    "the plane swooped and hit a large air pocket - the engine subsequently stalled" - Was that actually reported??? Hells bells, how would the clowns know that. As for air pockets not existing, then what are they that I have flown into that suddenly causes everything in the cockpit to stick to the roof for a second or so while my kidneys are smashed into my pelvis?

    I used flight sim to learn the ADF and VOR. When I did the REAL training it was a breeze.

    Also several years old. What amazes me is that people are fooled! (Do NOT get offended by that comment!). A little thought into the physics and one can determine that the plane would have dropped like a stone but knowing education system the last twenty years one my age should not be surprised.

    Hi, I am involved in similar work, but air2air. Could you PLEASE bring some cold weather as this 40°C and higher temperatures is getting me very annoyed. A set of steak knives from your area would be nice to.
