    I don't think SWMBO will wait that long. She's already choosing vanities so I'll have to wall it in, so I can put water supply and drain pipes through the studs. Good news is though, I only have to plaster and paint the inside (for now.)

    Still trying to shoehorn the radiator and oil cooler into the cowl and getting there. But on the long weekend just gone I had to take a break from plane work and install a toilet in the shed. Winter nights are getting a bit cold to go outside, especially for the missus. I did it backwards and put in the loo before the surrounding walls; which does make it a very spacious toilet, but on the good side, gives you a good view while standing...

    I remember my grade 9 history teacher telling me that he saw Sabres being sold for $60k in flying condition. This would have been 1986 or thereabouts.

    The oil cooler threads are aluminum themselves, I'm pretty sure.

    Yep, although they are 13mm thick. I've only got 16mm total on the threads and I need 6 for the top nuts and another 1 for the bracket, leaving 9mm. So I reckon Blueadventures is right and I should just get some scrap 6mm ally and tap it out.

    Yes, a number of the sites I was looking at trying to source these nuts are woeful. A search function that lets you set the variables of the item you're after is always best.

    These types of videos are usually cut and dumbed down, so it's likely the actual craftsperson checked the curvature out of shot. Mind you with the accuracy of that duplication process, that check may not be necessary. As long as the sanding is even over the whole blade it's fine.

    Possibly covering the slots left by the slat removal? But I thought they just ground the brackets off close to the skin and left them like that.

    Hey all, I need to source 3 of these buggers. They seem to be made of rocking horse poop because I can't find them anywhere online (except stainless from China or huge postage from UK). Spent some time in Nuts & Bolts Tasmania this morning and they only had full size ones. The ones I need are thin - lock nut or half nut - only 6mm thick. Anyone know where to source these in Aus? Apparently some 125 Honda (postie bike possibly) has them as axle nuts, I'll chase that angle up on Monday. Thanks, Marty

    Welcome Pat! Good to see another plane with slats (I'm building a Zenith CH701, very similar to the slatted Sav).

    Having 12 months is better than 10 when you have 4 seasons. Plus it pretty well goes into 360ish days.

    I don't see how you can get around the undeniable fact that the Earth takes 365.25 day/night cycles to go around the sun. So you can play with breakdown of time periods within each day unit, but its hard to decimalize days and years.
