  1. Looks like they would have to be re-bagged and painted... Tell him I'll give him $75 each ($300), and will look into where you are, and pick-up or post.🤔
  2. Yeah, only looking at tails and elevators. Wings would run more like $1,500~$1,800 each.. This is/was a GR912T (trike), so bigger tanks, flaps, and the reinforcing to be a 912 model. I see a 80hp 912 in the background there... I'm only looking for tails to go on a two stroke (basically the same), and they do look a little knocked about 🤔.
  3. Wouldn’t know where to start pricing them🤷🏼‍♂️ I mean if you went to Lightwing for a ‘new’ tailgroup, Mick would probably be looking around a couple of thousand dollars (covered and painted. But for old, possibly (internally) rusty parts, I’d be thinking more like $75~$100 per item🤔 Its one of those ‘how long is a piece of string’ questions…

  5. Looks like two tailplanes and two elevators here... I have jigs to make new tails (mine were damaged in a hangar accident), currently using spare off another hull.

  7. It is with deep regret, that we inform of the passing of 'Planet47'. She was only 65. Not specific details as yet, but found deceased in a living room, she lived on her own. Name being with held for now. RIP.
  8. Truth is, I looked at that photo (15-10-2019) for a while, trying to figure out why I had that cushion (that's all it is) on the tip? Came up blank 🤷‍♂️ It may as you say, be there to alter the angle of the wing, or it may have been something to do with the holding the ratchet strap buckle off the new paintwork...

Having removed/replaced wings on Foxbats a few times, and generally on my own, I worked out where the CofG of the wing is, and using triangulated ratchet straps, can lift the wing with an engine hoist. Obviously the tank needs to be drained first, but I usually leave the flatiron on (just pull one of the carden ring bolts), and with carefully estimating the weight with the hoist, all the bolts come out fairly easily. I usually stick a bit of masking tape at the balance point (1675mm from flap edge, and 380mm forward from the flap shroud edge), and usually tape or clamp the flaperon level.

  11. There is a Bearhawk LSA, but it is tandem seat, but the photo above does look more like the four seater, however it is possible that the builder incorporated all the 'lightening' features from the LSA into a two side by side version?🤔

  13. There is a relevant detail in the spec sheets, 90lts in a fibreglass header tank, in front of the instrument panel... Having a few hours in Garry's blue prototype Cougar, there is a noticeable CofG shift as fuel is burnt off, the subject plane also had wing tanks, behind the wing spar. Now throw an extra body in the back seat, and life can get interesting if you're not on top of the fuel system.😳 On a side note, interesting to see a '100LL Avgas only' sticker on the fuel cap, but I guess if it had a home made turbo system on a 912ULS, it may be the case...🤔

  15. This is somewhat akin to painting a target on your back! Unless Yuri has already moved Aeroprakt out of the Ukraine, I would feel nervous turning up to work in the next few weeks... How are the rest of us up for spares?

  18. Not 100% sure here, but I think the Delta Dart was the one that got the area rule mods done to it (there doesn't seem to be any 'wasting' in the photo of the Dagger there...), the performance comparisons here would indicate the effectiveness of using area rule.
  19. Photo's only showing one wreckage (Jab), and some Cub parked next to the strip? Wreckage direction is odd, being across the threshold? Did the jab hit a tow rope?

  24. 'Gravity feed...' I used to remember the old two stroke diaphragm pumps could pull fuel up about two feet (at least), in our situation the tanks are about level with the carbi's (they would be above during climb), so I'm assuming the 912 mechanical pump should maintain pressure to the carbi's as a 'level' system. My biggest concern was exposing the fuel pickups in the tanks when the wings are folded, so I've got a slightly more complex fuel system than just a line to the engine. Tank fuel will come into the side tubes and will have to flow down to the T branch where it will then feed to the engine. the lower tube will go to a below fuselage drain point, and the top tube goes to a 'purge' pump, that will scavenge all bubbles in the lines and pump it back to one of the tanks. That's the theory anyway, was initially going to use a header tank, but figured the lines were enough volume to do the job. Made many of my own bits and saved around $200 (if I don't count my time).
