  1. I learnt the sextant nav, But its too bloodi heavy & slippery when your hands are wet, two expensive lumps later I changed to GPS, going from 10 mile fix to 50 metres acuracy was a revalation.

Paper charts are only as good as the pencels used on it.

  2. The UK has had a few Illegals flying since the gov only allows GA planes. At last It's allowing LSA.

If we have to become none legal flyers at least we have lots backyard to fly in.

Who knows were the airstrip at "Tobermory" is ?, somewere north of the "Plenty hwy "in NT I think,

  3. (If people are unable to understand what was in post 215, then it is no real surprise they do not understand what is happening to RAAus. How bad do things need to get before the penny will drop?)

Do we have to pay lawyers to read lawyerspeak. each time a bureaucrat writes a sentence it gets veted so that only lawyers can understand it.

    What's killing 95-10, PAPERWORK.

Dream a dream machine, build it, Then break it to check its stress \ G force levels

EG, the Hummelbird in the UK has now got stingers in the rear fuselage, BUT the design is monocoque, therefor Not a Hummelbird, but it passed the bureaucrats' paperwork test.

  4. Apologies to the home built Sonex and Waiex community that I visited, but again GA not ultralight.

And I must get to visit a SAAA, but I'm a little bit lost with chapter's.

  5. Been to both, liked them too, But I like to see other home builds & there was aplenty at Narromine. The Dave King Hummelbird was a favourite of mine , it wasn't at Temora last year and only one homebuild that I remember, (needed a tuned exhaust)

Lots of very expensive GA type aircraft, and little of what the concept of what ultralights is about, after all Raa took-over Ultralight aviation, AUF didn't join GA to make RAA. (I think,( could be wrong)).

Perhaps That's the problem, two factions, penniless homebuilders and chequebook fliers who need a lesser GA,

My Need!, someone to fill in all the forms and formalities.

  6. If you made an engine it show "mechanical aptitude" IF like me you have "fear of conflict" problems. bureaucracy will stop every thing, it will stop a person climbing a mountain to swimming an English channel, No paperwork no fun, that could be done safe.

Just have to do every thing behind the OFFIAL's back. To prove it can be done.

  7. Would I have to write in "Jaeger" & or mintach tacho time in my log, if ever I get to fly my dream machine.

Also would I have to provide blueprints / plans to the L1 / L10 mechanic to work on a home built engine ?, only photo's required at the moment by RAA.

  8. What/ which mechanic/engineer, knows ALL engines on our domestic market

one Fitter- Turner makes the best engine I've ever seen on three continents, Big volume, quad cam, multi valve per cylinder, dry sump, and super-charged , heaps of torque, revs to 15,000 rpm.

Try to get Casa to find a L1 to L10, qualified to work on home building motors, even a Qantas engineer was taken aback !,

Look at miniature motors on youtube' V12' model size,
