  1. I have Known a lot of reasonable competent driver's who have Not insured their vehicle, because they know the insurance will be "Null & Void" if they get caught for any misdemeanor.

( at later date No registration, then No licence )

And still on the road. because they Can't comply with the law's, (Not plural but multiple).

Mr, & Mrs x died young leaving children with no hope of conforming to law's were you have to be literate.

    AND now their children also.

  2. " If the government came along and said to you: "M, we've decided to scrap all our current aviation regulations and start again and we'd like you to list a new set of rules" that might be worth thinking about, but what's wrong with choosing what you want to fly and just going out and doing it?".

    SCRAP the "wing loading rule",

I chose a Good Solid, Safe, Economical, AND good looking aircraft.

At The Time of choosing ( If I had built it quicker,) It Was registable, As was the other aircraft from the same designer, flying !.

WHY do the Bureaucrats think "Low wing loading" is SAFE.  Striping all Safety gear And the heavy main-spar out said aircraft, to comply with a rule that is "grandfathered" to "flying-registered" aircraft, does NOT in anybodey's opinion, Makes that compliance, SAFE !.

Which of the two aircraft fit the SAFE aircraft RULE.

  3. Glenn1,

Apollegees, But The thread drift is Threatening me.

"Shonky training/testing organisations should be arrested and jailed in recognition of the danger they have unleashed on the unsuspecting public (no different to drug pushers)."

I NEED those Shonkies, I am Bureaucaticly inept.  When your "pen-pusher's/teacher's & other bureaucrats, sit around trying to find "work", dreaming up concockted wonders of literature (again had to consult My Dictionary), It bodes disastor for the likes of me.

Four year's untill they "BUREAUACRATES" take my driving licence off me. ONE blooodi crash in SIXTY ONE years on the road, and I was not the driver, In my 1 crash !.

I thought I was doing good at my flight training. untill the TEST, then NO blooodi good, Havent flown since !.

  4. Compulsary Helmets !

I gave uo motor-cycling when that came in. 50 years later my children & grandchildren forced a helmet on my head, They were shocked how hard it was.

Bike still sits in their shed, Unused.

The cops NEVER breath test pub-patrons. THEY let them on to the ROAD then get them ! ( or try to ). THEN RBT Me 6 yes SIX times in one day. BULLL_SHEEET to that, IT"S Revenue Raising.

  6. Ian.

Can we cut the "365 days" down to a week or two.

I seem to have too many to wade through, if away for a couple of weeks.

Many thanks for your efforts, and to all Contributor's interesting topics.

  7. Re., the NSW law on entering & exiting driveway's

Can someone look up the law,  as-to "Revering into a road from your driveway !.

"The optimum car park is 45 degrees nose in; I've never understood the logic of stopping the traffic to reverse in."

SO you stop the traffic reversing OUT, into oncoming traffic !.

I was under the impression that the Law said reverse in, OR have a  person direct the traffic behind you.

  8. Saw the wreaks on "Cape york"

It was fascinating to say the least.

BUT as I worked in the Alloy recycling industry,  Iv'e put uncountable number's into smelter;s, (turned into ingots ).

Didn't like the burning to destroy (unwanted ) aircraft, Undamaged, still had full tnks, & some were fully armed, ( could have had a flight occasionally, but time is money to the boss )  so the mechanics & other airpersonel missed out.

Almost had a Lysander ride but they put the torch to it when we were inspecting, and thinking of "One last flight "

Squeaky engine when the Lysander was being started, Then we ran away from the burning plane.

Most wooden or canvas aircraft were burnt on the airfield.

  9. I wasn't going to post here, as it's well off topic.

    BUT

If the authorities can have six deaths as acceptable on a road that previously had zero, I don't think the Northern Territories should employ them. (the police )

There was No speed limit on the Stuart hwy NT, & no deaths for many years, but after the limit was imposed there was lots, six on the second year.

I'll stop as on the wrong thread !.

  10. In this day & age. Why do we have to have All engines rotating the same way from the same maker

Surly making a crankshaft & camshaft isn't that hard on the new CN machinery.

Iv'e watched a billet of alloy Turn into a V8 block in hours, Not days.

The contortions of the "Lathe" (if it's called that now) making a Cam, makes good entertainment, same with a crank having Journal work done.

But the crank is inside a "safety housing, so no viewing.

Always thought that having the prop-wash thrown "under the centre section",  by both engines running contra rotation make better aerodynamics.

  11. I put an engine operated running light on a car in the late fifties ! The stupid cops were forever pulling me over & telling me "Illegal" yet No law forbidding it.

Before the New side-light indicators became commonplace, Fiftytwo Morris Oxford, with alight, for fun.

In NZ I painted a Huge shamrock on the roof of a 1948 Austin A 40, Had a couple of chopper's follow me.

How did I know, All the people pointing up to those helicopters.'

  12. WELL,

"To do the test well you need to somehow have the same output power from the engine under the two conditions. The hotter test will need the throttle to be slightly more open to produce the same power."

" The prop will require less power on a hot day for a fixed rpm. This why there is only one static rpm in the POH and no allowance for altitude or density altitude. Orange NSW on a 35 C day, DA 6000' would still give me 2450rpm but the power is way down compared to sea level.

Any efficiency tests would have to be done on a good dyno to measure the power produced."

Far to complimented for my test.:  NO Dyno, !.

Was going to see if the measured amount of fuel (98 ron mogas), lasted longer on a hot or cold day, and if any tacho increase.

Nice & cool at 0800 hrs, 25c, but soon up to 35 c by 1130 hrs.

Also had granddaughter with Great-grand-son this morning then another daughter coming this arvo.

  13. Must test this.

Run motor on it's two litre's of fuel, on Hot day 40c +.

Run motor on same fuel (98 mogas) on the cold day, to see if revs. on tacho change & duration of timed endurance changes.

Rain will postpone this test. (raining now )
