"for all intends and purposes they are irrelevant to this issue. The RAA committee thinks that too ! .spacesailor"
So the way to get the Old AUF back WILL be for ALL the Rag, Tube, Scratch built, & none complying with, RAA, THE NEW Cheap GA aviation !.
WILL be to register ALL, on the GA experimental register.
CASA WILL NOT LIKE THAT IDEA.
I will check out, or have someone workout how to put the outcast's into VHE rego !, & have Hummels flying again.

OOPS
I forgot the Half-V W.
" 45 horsepower dual ignition engine by . Scott Casler "
Onetrack, " In W.A. (not sure about other States), an electrician is now fully responsible for everything in an area he has worked in -"
In NSW !. I've never been given a Certificate For any electrical work done by Licensed sparkies or Licensed plumber's.
My last electrical project was almost finished & the sparky got killed in a road accident, were does that leave my certificated wiring !.

" Two strokes are becoming rarer. "
Hirth are still in business. & a renewed interest in the 1940's designed McCulloch, with a new supplier in the USA, making castting's for starter's & alternators, as well as an electronic ignition system.

" That competency comes from 20% theoretical knowledge and 80% practical experience on a large number of different aircraft. By "large number of different aircraft", I mean not working on the same individual aircraft all the time, but working on a lot of similar types. That way you encounter a wider range of problems and idiosyncrasies. "
A large number of aircraft, Multi engine'd, turbine, & high flying jumbo's.
Just so an owner can service his one & only Two cylinder two-stroke, Rotax, Hirth or McCullough (four-pot) engine that most Mechanical engineers have never seen, ( motorcycle mechanics excepted).
" And what if you are overweight and have a stroke while driving past a kindergarten? "
Saturday I go for my heart monitoring test. Slow heart beat makes doctors worry,
BUT
I'm saving beats for my OLD age. LoL

The RAA committee thinks that too !.

I read the article, BUT I'M SKEPTICAL of any help to the old 95-10 rag&tube people. many will put flying aside & take to simpler less expensive pursuits.
I know of a dozen that gave away building their dream, when CASA imposed the "wing load" rule.
So why should the imposition of a Full & Expensive medical, be any different, to CASA's "wing-load rule".

" The point is I would have rather bought this stuff I need later - at a later date, and spent the money actually flying and "proper brief"s. "
Don't fly, just concentrate on the getting through all the paper-work, & math's (converting 60 minutes to 10 for billing your flight time.) Basic, nav, passeger, cross-country. The list of test is Very long.
One for Red750, " PS. Cheap flying is an oxymoron." That's why I chose a Hummel.

I just googled it ,"Atec Zephyr". A little bigger than a HummelBird. LoL
Thanks for the flight offer tho, much appreciated.

Thanks for the offer,
but
I can't even get my leg over a push bike now, on the wait (365 days) list for a replacement hip.
Do you know if SRFclub is still operating, I saw the two foxbats damaged at Arthur's hanger,
also Geoff Raebel the instructor, is he still around ?. he has a customer for his book, "RAAF in Russia".
cheers bryan

You could put the prop on backwards,
BUT
the trailing edge becomes the Leading edge so is inefficient.

I have a 582 .
BUT, not allowed to fly. If you can't sell them I'll buy, just to put with the 582 Rotax for spares.

Ultra-lights are not all equipped with battery power. So glass panels are not self powered for them.

If I had to do the routine the aviators do, for my car (weather, time, duration, & all the other things flyers do prior to takeoff.
My wife would beat me to the car, complaining of me taking FAR too long to go shopping !. LoL
I have done the morning preflight checklist,(as student) but it was never entered in my log book, SO therefore never happened. LoL

Should I get the axe out & make one. LoL

Just a note !.
" Batteries in EV's pose no more fire threat than perforated petrol tanks."
Race car's run alcohol, not ethanol/petrol like road users.

I was going to ask (shy'ly) that same question !.
" you're one of the people who has never bothered to learn P&O " Please inform me ?.
P" pilot practical petrol ?, & O orientation, owner, the list goes on.

Yenn.
The same applied to the Hummel Bird, !6 builders took their choice of NOT continuing with their dream.

The latest Ferro build is epoxy, sand mix !.
you have to be twice as quick plastering the hull, than the traditional sand, cement, mix.
It will not last the thousand years that the "oldest Ferro boat" has survived.
Built in the roman days its sits at the bottom of a pond, & is resurrected on special occasions.
I was very happy with my Cutter until it was flooded by a Pelican nest blocking the cockpit drains, resulting in All the wood interior & decking rotting.
So much for wood. disheartened I rang a marine broker to take it off my hands for Free.

SO !
Who dropped a missile on Cyprus.
"A suspected stray missile crashed north of the Cypriot capital, Nicosia early on Monday, Turkish Cypriot officials said.
Ersin Tatar, the prime minister of Northern Cyprus, a breakaway state recognised only by Turkey, said that no one was hurt in a pre-dawn blast near the village of Tashkent, also known as Vouno, some 12 miles northeast of the capital."

That company bosses said at the first grounding (could have been sabotage.terrorism) that one or two incidences was acceptable.
On the old BBC TV, Callous bugger !.
Never forgotten.

What about the difference of "point5.decimal5" in the radio call.
(been ears-dropping with the steam radio lately).

Your not on your own,
My neighbor down the road has just bought a 50 foot yacht, don't know if he still has the Cessna twin.
And the Hummel builder Up the road has gone VH,

"Surely aviation is one of those industries where the duty of care is high "
History paints a different story. In the 50's one or two lost airliners WAS acceptable.
Just look at the Comet.
