And if it was your 172 that suffered this unfortunate fate Rotorwork, I wonder if you would appreciate some of these comments?
It's not really something we should be joking about anothers misfortune, just because we're not directly involved.
I feel sorry for the poor PIC, glad he walked away unscathed, and hope he and others manage to learn something positive from it.
We should all hopefully learn something from these incidents, and display a little empathy.
None of us are 100% immune from things going belly up, as hard as we may try.

I spent some time at the MAF site and thought Tomo needs the tail of of this kite before he can put it on his avaitar and fly it home safely, or to PNG
.Hope to catch up with you next time mate.

You can't help yourself Alan.
Maybe it's a pommy thing, tyre tread depth inspection? or simply something in the name.

Just got back early from WINDS over ILLAWARRA.
I knew the forcast was not good, but still went as i'd already bought my ticket on line.
On arrival I saw Cherokee appear to make two attempts to land in the gusty conditions, but then obviously decided against it and headed back home.
The winds were merciless, and other than the RAAF boys arriving in the two FA18's, plus my camera dying, after 4 1/2hrs I gave it away and headed for home as thats all the flying that I saw.
They did announce that The Roulettes would probably still get airborne about 3pm but I wasn't prepared to wait any longer.
Hopefully the wind abated enough a bit later on to allow some flying.
Whilst there were reports of up to 35 knot croswinds, the FA18 pilot said they were hit with 50 knots near the mountain on their second circuit, so it was better to stay on the ground.

. sounds like a lot of fun, but just be careful when flying during the duck shooting season

i wonder who did the maintenance, and what was done?
sounds like something may have been overlooked as the poor fellah didn't get very far.
Shame he couldn't make it a bit further to Evans Head

After three consecutive abortive take-offs on a Garuda flight I was cured too.

So what are the improvements to their service if any?To answer the thread starter relating to consistency, They have stated they will maintain the same standard regardless of changing factors. It's part of their quality assurance. That should be comforting. Nev..Maybe I missed that bit.

Try Maxicrop, It works well for me.Couldn't open it.I used to tell a divorcee neighbour to use it, and dance naked around the plants every morning.
The tomatoes aren't so flash , but the cucumbers are going a real treat

No one gives a sh*t about any red faces.
They have done what they thought was right given the information they had, right ot wrong.
Hopefully sooner or later they'll find it and we'll all learn somthing from it.

Going back a few years, I drove past a factory unit in Chester Hill (SW Sydney) that had a lineup of fuselarges which appeared to be Terriers unpainted and just a greenish fibreglass finish.
I had a feeling that i'd read that they were being assembled for the Indian market, and that the business was owned by an Indian airline captain.
At the time I thought perhaps Helmut had sold off the manufacturing rights, but never got to the bottom of the story.
Out of interest, does anyone know any more? I think the name of the business began with the letter B.

Thats so sad.
Hope his little one pulls through OK.
RIP to PIC

Welcome Bill, you'll have to get used to the humor on here, but it's a great place to spend a few hours when you are not actually building.
The Corvair engine seems to be the most popular choice for this aircraft.
Good luck with the build and don't forget to post a few pic's of your progress.
Kind Regards

I think the editorial was done done by the same clowns that currently handle the ninemsn news page.I hope the new owners hire an editor that actually Edits the magazine. I stopped buying it because it was mostly articles from the US and the rest was so full of spelling and grammatical mistakes that it was painful to read.Hardly a day goes by reading their news pages without me cringing and wondering what their HSC marks might eventually be.

After reading a serious news item, I almost expect it to finish with "would you like fries, or an apple pie with that?"

If all commercial passenger aircraft had an epirb/gps in a heat resistant housing that would not only float, but also absorb impact beacause it was encased in a gel, and was mounted in an area that it could break away easily if the aircraft hit whatever, then surely it's signals could be picked up, and be independant of any control from the flight deck, unlike a transponder. It would not matter if it was in the form of a ball which could in certain instances roll a short way away clear from the point of impact.
If the digital signal was proven to be in error, it should be able to be easily isolated so as not to caused further distress, but it's location would be able to be accurately located.
Surely something like this would not be hard to produce, and maybe too much reliance has been placed in what we have had and considered adequate in the past.
I'm sure this incident alone, will call for a new line in thinking.
Just my thoughts.

Check this out ( after the short advert ) Well worth watching; So Interesting !!!!!
Watch Flight MH370 Flight simulator----what may have happened explained scientifically !
Interesting the number of settings which would have had to be made to get to this result and this location, looks very much like it was intentional by a knowledgeable person.
Best watched full screen.

I would, and have every other year but got married yesterday so I have an excuse this year.
Congratulations robinsm, don't forget you might have other duties as well.

Distraction is not always a good thing.
Short emergency interuption! I'll be back.
I fired up the bbq about 15 mins ago and the retirement village smoke/fire alarm just went off because all the excess fat caught alight in the barbie and the village almost disappeared.
It was going up a real treat:score 001:All good now, back to posting and cooking the lamb shish-kebabs in a few minutes.

Geez! Just got home and fired up the forums expecting lots of posts and photo's, to make me feel pee'd off for not being able to attend.
All I found was three pages of largely negative posts and no pic's. That's sad! Not only for those that took the trouble to attend, but also for those that wish they had, if the event was not up to expectations.
Like most on here, i'm well aware that Narromine was generally well attended, even at times when the weather-gods were not being very kind.
Is it general RAA unrest/ CASA involvement, or the venue which is the problem?
The answers to this would no doubt be complex and varied, but I just so hope that the situation can be reversed for all concerned in the future.
