  1. Could even be like a glider I once flew many decades ago. When mother nature called and the instructor passed me a clear plastic tubed to relieve myself in, I asked where dose this go, to a holding tank or somewhere? He replied "No, all over Mrs Browns washing in Basingstoke.
  2. Machtuk, for what it's worth, iv'e been a member on here for many, many years, and as such appreciate that everyone, however knowledgeable, is entitled to there own opinion. However, personal attacks on individual members are certainly not appreciated, and should in my opinion be kept to themselves. Please at least keep things friendly, regardless of how strong your individual views are. This is what we've had in the past and it would be great to keep it that way. Turbs is no fool and his views may be different to yours, but please show him a bit of respect regardless of your qualifications which not all may agree with. Thank you in anticipation. Rgds Planey
  3. News just in. not looking good. https://www.9news.com.au/national/queensland-plane-crash-lockhart-river-far-north/a7d03e3e-67de-472f-901d-b267333caca1
  4. Maybe some are content with what they've got, in these uncertain times. It's always good to read about what's on offer though, so we can dribble and dream.
  5. I had a friend who used to take ATC cadets for a bit of flying experience in a Provost. On one occasion he had a youngster who requested to experience flying inverted during the flight. Half way through the manoeuver the kid threw up his breakfast which then seemed to be suspended mid air. All he could think at the time, was which way do I roll out so he gets it instead of me??
  6. Sorry! tried to delete post as it's already been covered by Ibob
  7. Well done Dean. It appears that you are doing exceptionally well , and welcome to the forums.
  8. Roller skates stop on small grit under the wheels, whereas push-bikes hardly know it's there. In my younger days i'd also ridden Vespa's and Lambretta's, but hated them for that very reason, to say nothing about dropping a small wheel in a pot-hole.
  9. A good memory bank could be a useful asset for some, i'm sure it helps kgw
  10. Definately wouldn't make it that far. These days I have one in the house as opposed to running down to the bottom of the back yard. Life is sometimes full of luxuries, from what we had years ago.
  11. I'm finding that having to wait outside an occupied bathroom, is far more exercise than I really need. It actually helps keep you young!
  12. I once went to see this lady for a psychic reading, and as I walked in she said "hello, whats your name". I replied, "sorry, I must be in the wrong place".
  13. He was obviously beside himself.
  14. Welcome lee My guess is Dunsfold?. Stay away from Redhill, my nephew flies some quite large R/C models close by. I flew from Biggin Hill and Shoreham.
  15. I've still got the tie.
  16. An eskimo married a nice Jamaican girl, and when their kids went to school, they were called choc-ices
  17. Hi Adrian, there's an old saying that says "profit is made from the very regular use of something, not necessarily the ownership of it. I too went through the stage of wanting ownership, but that never eventuated. In hindsight that turned out the best for me. I also once owned a very nice cabin-cruiser which was not used as often as originally anticipated. I would have saved many thousand by simply hiring when I needed too. Food for thought!
  18. And some threads get a bit like an autobiography which others may not want to compete with. Just my view, and maybe i'm wrong, but it's how I feel.
  19. Great video, envious of those skills. Thanks for posting it.
  20. Many would no doubt be a bit pee'd off initially if someone expressed concern at their antics, however, hopefully they would think about it and live to fly another day. Forewarned is to be fore-armed, or at least that's the way it's intended to be. In my books, you did the responsible thing Alf and family members would no doubt appreciate it too.
  21. Wishing you all the very best in your recovery stages too, albeit a lot slower than you'd wish for, i'm sure. Keep your chin up mate, i'm sure you'll get there. Rgds Planey
  22. On a recent trip to the UK, I was amazed at how many farms which at one time produced food for the populous, were now filled with rows and rows of solar panels and nothing else, because it was in their financial interest to do so. Not sure what subsidies they get from the government, but obviously they are now more reliant on the fact that a far larger quantity of food has to now be imported to cover the shortfall, but presumably they now have more power to process and cook what they can't produce themselves. It's a complex situation which is way beyond my brains.
  23. Thank you for your contribution and those of all your mates. Very much appreciated. Rgds Planey
  24. Over the many decades that I have been playing around with engines, iv'e had to replace quite a few, and had to do so on my own car this week. (Yes I know it's a Ford) , but quite often they are tucked up on the block under the manifold and more easily accessed if up on a ramp. The leak which often starts off as a small weep from the actual body, rather than the threaded part can progress to a more sinister leak which covers everything when subjected to heat, which makes it a bit harder to locate. Leaks from them is not uncommon at all. At least I didn't have to pay a Rotax price to replace mine.
