  1. Bristelle are one example of secured 'Mass Ballast' that is bolted to the lower area of the engine mount.
  2. Have you heard any news on when RAAus will have w&b approvals back; heard was to be September. Planning to email a question next week. Cheers.
  3. Even the Blackhawks could not perform in heavy rain back at the start of the 1990's; those who worked on them will know the details.
  4. Add in the Whitworth spanner and socket sizing to the joys of British aircraft compared to USA aircraft back pre 1960 from what I hear.
  5. Would be good to read the test results before commuting to buy. Surely Rotax have the 916 doing plenty of hours before making available??
  6. Write to the editor and give him an article on SGS also include specs of the engine prop etc.
  7. This type? not real dear to buy.
  8. Yep, absolutely agree; works a treat.
  9. 230D basic starts at $163k of their webb site.
  10. Nearly, but still not enough lift generated by the wing profile.
  11. Understand; however that is what I desire and believe there would be others out there in the aviation market sector. Could be retro fit to the existing 230 fuses. Not everyone wants to travel vast distances; just operate within say up to 3 hours and carry 5 plus hours of fuel. IMHO.
  12. Agree; as I have said a few times I would like to see an option of a slower wing that would allow the average low hour pilot to get out with a shorter ground run and slower stall speed and therefore less float so land much shorter. Give their aero engineers a challenge. Cheers
  13. POH from factory for info, flight-manual-atec-322-faeta.pdf
  14. This is one of the very best events ever. Just up the road (airtime) from you. "The Old Sation Flyin" May 2024. See you there.
  15. Re push pull cables; my recommendation to all is to buy only genuine replacements; not knock offs. Because I have investigated the failure of an inner wire that was a full break and the cable was a non-genuine (Engine control of a 32 meter tug boat). Metallurgy testing found a high level of a certain mineral that was a cause of the failure. Such a break failure would not be good; with wire cable you have a chance of seeing progression of degrading of the cable.
  16. Have you seen the one in classifieds?
  17. Maybe engines cheapish. Currently 2/3 Rotax price and used to be about 1/2.
  18. Hearing 51% ownership (unconfirmed).
  19. A newer model main gear one piece leg has been fitted to ‘Spirit of Kittyhawk’ and Ben flew her today and likes the feel of it. A full upgrade to 600 kg will be completed in the future, just awaiting some parts from the factory and the sign off for RAA w&b ratings.
  20. Also, gliders can be slower in their circuit all the way at 40mor 45 knots so the drop is a little more noticeable and not able to add speed with an engine only by lowering the nose; which may not be good at times.
  21. Hi IBob I learnt about that in gliding. When turning in the circuit the air speed on the ASI would drop a little. Had to keep the screen view attitude; and don't stick the nose down to bring the ASI up as you would be over the desired speed when out of the turn. The air flow at an angle across the pitot tube caused the situation.
  22. Take some TimTams as well for any necessary chocolate fix’s.
  23. Nice, recon you will have parts in 6 or 7 days.
