    Our son took about two hours to travel the length of Camden Bypass this morning !! We tried to go to Camden but the traffic was at a standstill on Burragorang Road so turned round. Tim S took the photos. I have not been down to The Oaks airport today but I expect its rather damp.

    The wet weather in Sydney made it a bit hard to actually get to Camden Airport this morning !! Its about 25 years since I last saw this level of flooding here.

    I have been having fun looking back at tracks on OzRunways - one from last weekend attached when we did an arrival into Camden via the river at 500AGL. Tower is happy to approve if you ask. When we went way to Echuca my wife rather liked the general tracking page where she could follow our progress tx.ozrunways.com

    I guess my point though is that if they are assessed as high risk I certainly dont want to be sharing the airspace/circuit with them. It was not meant to be specifically about the need for a passenger endorsement for RAA or not.

    One would have to ask why these people are actually allowed to take an aircraft out by themselves at all if there flying is high risk ?

    Spent the night in Wagga - just got back today ! Great weekend - including a "spectacular" Auster formation

    Jealous !! I was looking at importing one a while ago but the dollar tanked and made it un-economic !! Love them.

    Depending on exactly where you live, Camden isn't that far and has a number of good schools

    Went to the Auster/Short Wing Piper rally over the weekend at Wentworth. A very long flight in an Auster for a tall pilot ! - Camden to Wentworth was about 6 hours flying time. Of course we had a headwind in both directions. Was good to meet up with old friends.

    The pictures are interesting - for a motor that has only done 5 hours seems like quite a lot of vertical scuffing and the deposits on the cylinder walls look like rust ? Is the scuffing normal for this type of motor ?

    Just caught up with the news. We only live a kilometre away and got the storm but nothing like what the airfield got.

    Such a lovely day today had to go for a quick fly - local round Camden and back in the scenic way (via the river at 800 feet) followed by a few circuits. Youngest son was doing the flying so I just went along for the ride

    Kaz - using the word brake and Auster in the same sentence ??

    I just have the basic pipe with the inline filter. As its only 20 litre cans I just need to be careful - and with the pressure relief valve its easy to cut off. I don't have over-wing tanks though.

    I also use a Tanami pump - and incorporated a filter in the hose - works fine

    Interesting that its announced at an airport most RAA people can't fly to ?

    27th is the Sunday when people will be departing - best day to visit I think would be Saturday See you there Kaz ?

    Maybe we could also have a week where only topics about good things that are happening rather than constant criticism of events, etc !

    The most important thing I find is to make sure you understand the approach speeds and limitations. Read the POH and use a checklist. If you get the speeds right the rest seems to work OK (at least in my experience)
