Any more capable than a brand new Cessna 182 for 60K in 1980?

I see that that the wee CubCrafters bush plane comes with colour TV these days  - and a turbine motor too, if you like.

I reckon you could land one of those here for not much more than a mill and a bit Pacific pesos.

Not sure what a new 182 is but a new 172 is over a million today.

It comes with two Garmin efises.

I guess we should talk about the actual new efises.

 

GDU116B - base model, 11.6 inch screen, fits same mounting hole as 10 inch G3X Touch, faster processor, sharper screen,

        lots of small feature updates, minor wiring changes, internal VFR GPS, $8-9K Aus $.

 

GDU116C - all the above plus, internal audio panel, internal com radio, internal IFR GPS, $26K ?

 

GDU116NC- all the above plus, internal audio panel, internal com/nav radio, internal IFR GPS, $33K ?

 

Needs current model ADAHRS, GEA25 (sensor interface) etc

Also works with the current model IFR navigators, ADSB transponder, AP controller, radios, standby instruments (G5, GI275)

Aviation 101 AXIS flight displays to Oshkosh

I confess I love my iPad/OzRunways. Not only does it make planning/navigation a doddle, it increases my awareness of aircraft in my vicinity (combined with SE2).

 

I have a Dynon Skyview Classic ADAHRS & EMS. Took me for ever to transition from my old "steam gauges". Other than the weight saving (includes emptying wallet) I am not convinced that it has enhanced my flying experience one jot.

 

For Day VFR in small little aircraft, this "luddite" is of the opinion that the glass screen, has more to do with poser rights than practical benefit.😈

might be a colour tv but it only has a boring geography channel. no netflix
