Nev, I would rather travel on a relatively new 787 or Airbus 350 than a clapped out 777 or 330 Airbus with a million hours on it. Pilots say they like flying the 787.

What BS reply.  BrendAn.

SP, they've had their Problems. I wouldn't like to have a fleet of old Ones. Some "not that old" airframes have been retired and stripped rather than do a "D" check. Smooth ride from BENDY wings. Nev

I don't know why an aircaft accident where several people were injured, a couple of them quite seriously, rates as a joke. The event could easily have incurred fatalities and I trust the investigation finds out how this happened.

They are supposed to have lock pins inserted to prevent accidental retraction, and if it was retracted by maintenance workers in the cabin as part of testing procedures, then the maintenance procedures for ensuring lock pin insertion is correct and has been carried out, are deficient.

You never do a ground retract test Unless the Plane is on Jacks. Pins are inserted first thing after the Plane is Parked. After push back the Ground engineer walking with the Plane shows the captain the U/C Pins before he Unplugs his coms. Everything on these is electric . They were reported as Checking if something like a heavy  landing may have happened. so I really don't know . It Might be a Maintenance issue. It was a Pretty Hard KLUNK by the Look of how the Airframe reacted to the Impact. Nev
