danny_galaga Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Yet another landing on a road, with just the gods preventing injury and death to people on the ground
facthunter Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Dunno about the GODS bit. Roads appear inviting when the fan stops. There's no Place to Pull over and Park in the sky. Nev

There's no Place to Pull over and Park in the sky. Nev For sure. Just seems like there are ONLY public roads for people to land on in a country about the size of Australia. Hence I think they should just build airstrips in the middle of every town and city there 😄
facthunter Posted April 23 Posted April 23 In early days of Aviation Race Courses used to be used. , Isn't Land expensive where you Propose? Airports only get closed to build Houses Not the Other way around. There's NO where to land over water or steep Timbered country. Your Plane has to be reliable enough to Not Need to. Nev

Nev Sometimes I wonder if you are a Turing test. I'm on the verge of thinking you are a computer 😄 On serious note, Darwin as you know, basically grew AROUND the airport. That is some pretty desirable land. 1
facthunter Posted April 23 Posted April 23 It Becomes Valuable later and is always a relatively Large area of Land that greedy developers can't Keep their Hands off. Even when the Airport was there first the Later residents complain about the Noise and want it closed down so as their Investment will Improve in Value. Darwin was always a strategic aerodrome. . Nev

He might have been able to divert to the road parallel to the runway (I'll allow that!) but he might have still hit wires. 1
facthunter Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Those Images don't quite tally up. Is there an AI input.? Nev

Aircraft was very slow, under carriage hooks on wires resulting in the nose over. There was an RAAus aircraft a year or two back did something similar on final approach, I think it did a complete forward somersault before hitting the ground.
facthunter Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I know it relates to a real occurrence The flash was odd and the wires didn't appear to move. nev
