For sure. Just seems like there are ONLY public roads for people to land on in a country about the size of Australia. Hence I think they should just build airstrips in the middle of every town and city there 😄

In early days of Aviation Race Courses used to be used. , Isn't Land expensive where you Propose?  Airports only get closed to build Houses Not the Other way around. There's NO where to land over water or steep Timbered country. Your Plane has to be reliable enough to Not Need to. Nev

Sometimes I wonder if you are a Turing test. I'm on the verge of thinking you are a computer 😄

On serious note, Darwin as you know, basically grew AROUND the airport. That is some pretty desirable land.

It Becomes Valuable later and is always a relatively Large area of Land that greedy developers can't Keep their Hands off. Even when the Airport was there first the Later residents complain about the Noise and want it closed down so as their Investment will Improve in Value.  Darwin was always a strategic aerodrome. . Christ on a stick! Looks like they need to build a few airstrips in the middle of LA too 😄. A few because LA is freakin HUGE.
