BrendAn Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) The faa report has come out on Sam's crash 2 years ago. He skipped his preflight and payed with his life. He was in a rush to catch a commercial flight back after delivering the cougar. The sad part is he was already too late before he left. Edited March 21 by BrendAn 1
onetrack Posted March 21 Posted March 21 You'd have to rate him pretty well up the list for a Darwin Award. There's no forgiveness for shortcuts in flying aeroplanes - especially when that shortcut is to leave out a check for water in the fuel. 2 1
facthunter Posted March 21 Posted March 21 With flying you generally make your own luck with the decisions you Make. Nev 2

Makes me glad to be a learner. 1
facthunter Posted March 21 Posted March 21 A disciplined Experienced Pilot doesn't cut corners. Employers like people with experience. Cowboys go somewhere else. Nev 2

Nev Fair enough but this is a recreational pilots forum I would take it for granted that commercial pilots would be a lot better disciplined. 1
facthunter Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) I didn't mention commercial pilots People hire instructors/ CFI's. IF you Look at the top Left, its . " The home of Aviation for ALL Pilots". Nev Edited March 21 by facthunter typo 1

Anyway I was just making the point that commercial pilots are held to Higher standards as they should be. 1
facthunter Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I have plenty of time on many and varied basic U/L Planes instructing etc and am very keen to continue to support it.. A plane is a Plane. Good airmanship is required across the Board or you are temporary.. If enough People do the wrong thing it won't help the Movement.. Nev 2

You start going on about who employers hire and fire. The topic had no mention of commercial pilots who are on a much higher level of training and experience than the regular rec pilot. Every topic I post which I do to keep the forum going ends up in an argument with you. Then your mate above posts some Wikipedia bullshit about a hand plane For fucks sake. 1 1

skippydiesel Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Not defending/taking sides here - The Forum has a wealth of past, current & future aviation ( sometimes other) knowledge to impart. You can learn stuff, even from a self proclaimed perfect pilot/engineer - best not to use the "ignore" function if it means a loss of access. Instead use the self discipline button - do not respond!😈 2 2 1

Every Phil unicomb video that has been put up gets snide comments from him. I like Phil's videos, I find them entertaining and his explanations are very clear and easy to understand. That's all I will say now let's get back on topic. 1
facthunter Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I've never ever used the ignore function. You are Not forced to read everything. If you don't agree with what is written Refute it with Facts rather than attack the person. I'll answer tor anything I write.. Nev
T510 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 The ignore function works for me. It saves trying to filter through the 99.9% chaff to find the occasional kernel of wheat. It also saves the beratement when you dare to disagree 1
facthunter Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) I feel you don't like ME much. BrendAn? You are not very subtle or accurate either. If you Mean ME use my Forum name up Front. facthunter Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Moderator is it OK to Have to Put up with PERSONAL attacks like these. I've been here since the Beginning and Can't recall anything to Compare it with EVER happening.. Nev 1
pmccarthy Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Nev I have been here a long time too, though not as long as you. I think you have become more cranky or cantankerous over time and it can annoy people. I have learned not to express my views too often, mainly on the other forum, as it just annoyed people and brought personal attacks. I believe deeply in my own views on some things and wish I could change the thinking of others, but I have largely given up trying. Cheers, Peter. 1 1 1 1
