The three of them are derelict. There's windows on Airline cockpits. Before you move past the holding point have a look for traffic on final. The second plane touched down on the touchdown zone of the FAR end of the runway with stuff all distance left  to pull up in.. Hairy as hell. Nev

I dunno, it all looked just fine to me - you know all about the problems of range distortion in videos and filming, don't you? Besides, all 1,389 pax on both aircraft, didn't notice a thing. Welcome to India! :cheezy grin:

It's quite common in countries in the rest of the World to allow landing clearances to be given if the controller believes that the runway will be clear when the subject airplane touches down, and not unusual to be issued a late landing clearance - even in the flare.

A late go-around can be performed after touchdown provided reverse thrust has not been selected, and it is expected during a cat 3B approach.

Not uncommon arriving into LA or New York to be issued a landing clearance with the runway occupied and yet another to land before you.

In this case the controller believed that the departing airplane was probably > V1 when he issued the clearance.

These 2 engine airplanes accelerate like the proverbial ...... and the take off airplane had rotated before the landing airplane touched down.

Certainly looked close to the journalists.

You can argue all you like about range distortion and busy airports and clearances but that was just TOO CLOSE.
