red750 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I only speaka de Ingis, and I fink I speak it good, but omitted or misplaced commas, for example, can change the entire meaning of a sentence. The old example is: I helped Uncle Jack, off the horse. Leave out the comma, and it reads ......... censored. Does any other language have situations like this? 1
Yenn Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 It is easy to write something that does not make sense. If spelling or punctuation make it less than 100% clear it can and will be misinterpreted. If someone writes in a way that is not clear, they may as well not write at all. 3

Yenn, we can muddle through with spelling variations but grammar and punctuation should be absolutely invariant between writers and readers so that ideas are clearly passed without confusion. (although I did laugh about "Psycho the rapist") 2
