  1. yes ......................... and 99 % of all lawyers give the rest a bad name JM
  2. aaaaaaahhhhhhhh ........................ politics (Confuscious say politics is an enevitable argument beetween any group (s) of individuals) You are all being a bit tough on all the current .................. and prospective candidates But then, I like the comparison that Australia is currently such a great place to live, safe, friendly, healthy & wealthy that 'snow white and the 7 dwarfs' could probably run Australia - so why the current complication ? MY GUESS ANSWER: the over enthsiastic efforts of individuals putting their aspirations before the good of Australia ............... a more cooperative approach would stop the bonfire .................... currently and always fueled by taxpayer dollars
  3. thanks OME - I think it was a new one for $ 1,000 In any case - I just thought - I'm an Australian taxpayer - I'm getting fleeced all the time JM
  4. I might have got fleeced ................ OME:bad_mood:
  5. Yep - chinese altimeter costs say $ 350 replacement - crap Good one with calibration - or whatever the word is - costs $ 1000 ? Replaced crap with good one jm
  6. re the chainsaw I could just imagine 'in flight' the airline hostess saying ..................... 'Sir you can't start that up in the chainsaw in the toilet - the toilet is fitted with a smoke detector'
  7. I thing a light hearted scrutiny of airport security does no harm ......................... however, other places you'd be shipped off to the gulag for doing so My latest venture thru security - I was contemplating what would happen if security did find a back pack of explosives ! Oh boy Chances are the terrorist / idiot concerned would then attempt to detonate the device ............... which would probably make a mess of all the clean airport terminal windows Can we get some 3000 x 3000 x 3000 concrete boxes - say 500 thick reinforced concrete installed in the terminal buildings - they could do bomb tests in there ?
  8. Tomo - if you could walk thru without being asked you might be recruited by some Columbian cartel - be careful When being tested for bombs - I asked the bloke and asked if the sensor senses 'drugs' - he said no - its purley a test for explosives - so I'd say a traveller with 'medicinal marijuana' ............ would pass - no questions asked
  9. to be sure to be sure - Dazza 38 - Roma will get a X ray machine one day - you can bet on it - Emerald just recently got one Boingk - at Emerald when they were going thru my pack .............. looking for sticks of TNT (no doubt) - I had my ASIC card on me and showed them - they said 'it don't matter - you are not exempt from the search even with an ASIC card' - security kept on looking for 'the bomb'
  10. I was catching Qantas at Emerald and the 2 pilots with the braid and hats walked to the door to go airside One of the airport satff had to swipe the door to let the pilots out At that point the airport staff made a great point of showing the pilots her ASIC card .................... apathetically ? the pilots then showed their cards (which they wear around their necks anyway) to the airport staff ? - mindless Sigmund Freud might say it's sexual ? - I'll show you mine if you show me yours ? All I can say is I am glad airport security don't wear six shooters - there'd be a stack of dead bodies in the corner
  11. your becoming to soft in your old age Ian remeber to keep a jar of coins for your retirement - don't give it all way
  12. met you at emerald neil when you were deleivering a storch to NT ? go get 'em neil ............. and no doubt - let us know what happens when the suits finishing arguing RGIB seems to offer very reasonably priced insurance ............................... I'm assuming that RGIB behave themselves .............. if a claim is made ?
  13. some one said ............... 'fighter pilot - the memoirs of legendary ace robin olds' isbn 0312569513 was good - bought that book - great bloke, read and one of the strangest but best endings I've read in an aviation book ................. cheap too - $ 15 ww2 and vietnam flying
  14. one or two JATO packs .................. if it proves a bit too heavy !
  15. ferris - regarding the holder ................... I drill a hole thru the card (breaching casa regulation 16 b) ii)) then slip knot a rubber band or such like thru it ................. this way you can hang it off a button, button hole, eye glasses (looks stylish), belt (western look out west), hat (fly swat), forehead (shade) etc still like to hear from someone that has lost a card - I'd like to hear what process was required when the said plastic was lost - the hallowed card - I suspect a stat dec might not be enough ? (stand on one leg and crow like a chicken at 10.25 pm on a waning moon ?)
  16. Got my 3rd ASIC card today - 3rd 2 year term with this card I'd say in summary the process was easy with RAAI (thanks) but in the great paper shuffle I was told RAAI did not have the old card and it was up to me to ..............blah blah........... ! The requirement is to return the old card before getting the new one Has any poor unfortunate sole lost the 'hallowed' card and what was required to appease the legislature ............................. prior issue of the next one ? As said many times before - by others - it's (ASIC card) the most irrelevant piece of plastic I carry - no ome has ever asked for it at the required aerodromes - I wonder what its (ASIC card) bureaucratic fate might be ?
  17. sunrayisa says 'people are seriously hurt. And the insurance companies aren't concerned, Jabiru blame everyone ' sunrayisa also raises an interresting point - if there is a percieved danger and insurance companies reacted - things could get ....................... uncomfortable I magine there is no impost by any insurance company re this subject so insurance is not an issue ? ............................... which is good jm
  18. thanks - did not think button and switch 2 different things ! - will get L2 to perform the disection
  19. two in gympie queensland at the moment - for hire - 1 a tail wheel - pro sky gympie is the school
  20. Howdy see the attached PTT - they are off a tecnam - someone said RC Allen PTT anyone know where I can buy these - preferably oz ? thanks jm
  21. Farri get your key board - tip it upside down and bash it on the desk (not to hard as some keys tend to pop off) - that'll get all the crap out of the key board - you'd be suprised what lives in there .......................... might fix it ? jm
  22. m.merv - point taken and as said - no offence intended If I had of read your post - I would have read your hourly rate and not posted Keep publicising hourly rates - thats what I reckon In relation to $ 200 hour dual I guess planes cost a lot and the amount of use dictates the charge out rate In relation to $ 200 - that's half an hour in a dentist's chair ................ flying seems more fun, some how
  23. There always seems to be a reluctance to advertise what a school charges - I guess thats business Case in point m.merv had an opporunity to state what his schooll charges ............. but instead lifted his eyebrow at what Gympie charged (no offence m.merv) Mmerv is probably surrounded by 2 million rich mexicans so his hourly rate can be lower In Gympie you can't make much money out of spuds If I ran a school I'd state the hourly rate any opportunity I could get ................... it always suprises me that hourly rates aren't discussed more often JM
  24. I think you can tell if you are flying balanced or not - an instrument sort of confirms it So ianboag we have to assume that both your legs (outer) - those connected to your hips are the same length (left and right shoes are allowed) ............... and balanced flight is achieved I'm with ozzie - I reckon its hydraulics and flow and what liquids do in them there pipes As to fuel management ........................ that's probably what concerns you - you'll need some more fuel taps ? Prior to modification - I'd empty the favoured tank and ground rum it and see what happens - then I'd leave it alone and see if fuel drains to the favoured tank ? JM
  25. GAFA there are 3 flying schools at Gympie and ! ................ you are n't wasting time waiting for a flock of aeroplanes to land ................... so generally downtime is minimal Sealed runway and flushing toilets to !
