  1. ......................................... more tea Vicar ?
  2. there should have been some grandstand seating inside the hangar - there'd be plenty that would pay ........ just sign a simple disclaimer and off you go
  3. Confucius say: you live in Longreach where land flat as a pancake .......... driving no help you live on hill, driving will help as more gravity management required ........... (assuming gearbox used [not many drivers] not brake pedal [most drivers])
  4. Ironically forums such as this (this forum) .......................... will become even more valued and important in conveying information Pennies from heaven Ian (Ian the forum owner) ................... pennies from heaven
  5. I don't think it matters much how many hours it takes someone going solo - it maybe not even the measure of the student - it could be the measure of the instructor (congrats Aldo 8.9 hours to solo ! great stuff) - and I don't think any student will drag their knuckles on the ground reading this either) I think students getting into this zone would like to know about these aspects ? ............. the other day I went for my first fly in 2 months ! (wind, work, wages) - I thought at the time it was just like going solo all over again
  6. 17.5 ! hours to solo; 30 + years ago and I did n't care the least - have enjoyed every bit of it .............
  7. the same forensic scientist doing that recommended study could 'muderously !' drive home ...................... and take out any number of cane toads, dingoes, snakes, locusts, bees, cockroaches, worms, rats, mice, kangaroos, wallabies, rabbits, flies, sandflies and any other number of god's creatures ........................ who checks the checker ?
  8. After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, British scientists found Traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that Their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago. Not to be outdone by the British, in the weeks that followed, an American Archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, a story Published in the New York Times: "American archaeologists, finding traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an Advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the British". One week later, Australia's Northern Territory Times, reported the Following: "After digging as deep as 30 feet in his backyard in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, aboriginal Billi Bunji, a self-taught archaeologist, reported That he found absolutely bugger-all. Billi has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Australia had already Gone to wireless."...
  9. ................. did that flight ever land at all ? .............. if so, which runway did they finally lay some rubber on ?
  10. yes good idea Turbo ................... where there is a fair chance it was an error - leave out the details that identify the person, plane, place and accident location. We need to hear things we can all learn from
  11. can we get some video of that Phil .................. I'd like to see the flare at the landings (or at least the 3 wheel ground contact low flying technique)
  12. condolences to the Pavans, friends & associates ......... hoping we can hear some cause answers to this event
  13. ........ I disagree .............. thank god for a democracy I think if pilots wear a nappy they exempt themselves from going to the toilet - and I'd suspect some probably do anyway - who knows (they have all worn them before anyway) If there was a fill in person on the A320 tragedy .................. this entire thread may not of even of been posted
  14. hangar I'm in has hinged doors - built more than 20 years - see attached hinges are simple bolt connections doors latch at top to roof frame - drop bolts for each door to slab - each set of 2 doors has a jokey wheel at centre hinge with a concrete track - simple, not many moving parts - antiquated, old an remarkably reliable hangar doors.pdf hangar doors.pdf hangar doors.pdf
  15. a terrible incident & with all respect to the living ................ this could well be a murder suicide (if the reported facts are true) - the pilot murdered 150 persons - as some other articles state, there should be a way where the passengers can be protected from that small percentage of rouge pilots (as well as vicki versa)
  16. option 1: toilet in cockpit option 2: drinks trolley that converts to battering ram option 3: electrified pilot seats controlled by 1st class passengers (if no 1st class than row 13) option 4: duress button in cabin - aircraft then coverts to fly by wire - pilots are then redundant on flight option 5: ................
  17. Apart from the PIC's final decision - if fuel reserve was conservatively regulated - then all businesses would have the same cost imposed on them - the playing field would be level for all - the risk would then lessen .............. or is that to simple a solution ? looking at the Ryanair video above - that looks like an option that might happen ?
  18. .................... also some proof here that marijuana causes paranoia
  19. I believe this plane has 2 pilots so each pilot would be looking at the other ...................... seeing them as a 'payload'
  20. a flying gas chamber could be problematical
  21. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/aap/article-2921259/Virgin-flight-tirade-costs-man-60k.html seems a bit steep the charge ............................... but, this is the terror world you'd think there'd be a better way than turning the aircraft around - like a 'refuse chute' or a 'straight jacket' ? you'd think the young bloke would declare 'bankrupt'
  22. ...................... things might change for the better at Emerald airport ? John Thank you for your email (attached) sent to Mayor, xxxxxx, on 4 March 2015. Cr Maguire has asked me to respond to the concerns outlined in your email. Emerald Airport is a class 3 security airport and therefore security requirements are controlled by the Aviation Transport Security Regulations and the security level is set by the size and volume of Regular Public Transport aircraft using the airport. These regulations are enforced through the Office of Transport Security (OTS) and compliance to the regulations are routinely audited by OTS officers. Council recognises the issue of the verbal password system in place, but it is routinely checked and audited by OTS for enforcement. As an improvement to the security system, Council is in the process of changing the two airside access pedestrian gates to operate with swipe passes. As work is completed we will undertake the process of changing over to the new control system. This of course will require the issue of proxy cards and associated paperwork to satisfy the OTS requirements. It will mean that all card holders will require a one off application, but the system provides unlimited access through the GA pedestrian gates 24/7. Holders of the old password should receive emails discussing the changes in the next week or so. In regard to additional GA parking for light aircraft, work is scheduled for next month and located between the hangars and runway 15/33. This is the first step in upgrades through that GA area proposed for the longer term subject to budgetary constraints. Council is also presently undertaking work on priority projects associated with airfield lighting and runway 06/25 overlay. Hangar space is limited at Emerald Airport with one space currently available. An Expression of Interest process will be undertaken shortly to offer this spare hangar space to interested parties. In addition, an area has been identified at the airport for additional hangars should pilots be interested in constructing their own on site. Thank you for bringing the concerns in relation to Emerald Airport to the attention of Cr Maguire, and I trust that the above information provides clarification in regard to current improvements at Emerald Airport. 24. if you lived downwind from a wind farm (and this could be a certain separation distance) (experienced this at a camping ground) ................ found them to be annoying at best - they seem to create a 'pulse' or a 'resonance' in the air - banging the palm of your hand on each side of your head does not alleviate the problem
  25. Ahoy Cropmaster .................. here is the reply from the bloke in the middle (its ZK CPW) - pilot who ended up with 30K + hours ! 'Hi John, Air Services had ZK-CPW in May 1969 while Agwagon ZK-CSF was repaired after an engine failure after take -off. Lovely aircraft to fly very light in the controls. cheers Robert' Beaver at back is ZK CKH - cowls off - RHS bloke is the engineer ............. no doubt fixing it Good luck with your restoration
